We will all need plenty of time and introspection to analyze the full range of game-changing vectors unleashed by the unveiling of BRICS 11 last week in South Africa.
Yet time waits for no one. The Empire will (italics mine) strike back in full force; in fact its multi-hydra Hybrid War tentacles are already on display.
Here and here I have attempted two rough drafts of History on the birth of BRICS 11. Essentially, what the Russia-China strategic partnership is accomplishing, one (giant) step at a time, is also multi-vectorial:
- expanding BRICS into an alliance to fight against U.S. non-diplomacy.
- counter-acting the sanctions dementia.
- promoting alternatives to SWIFT.
- promoting autonomy, self-reliance and instances of sovereignty.
- and in the near future, integrating BRICS 11 (and counting) with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to counter imperial military threats, something already alluded to by President Lukashenko, the inventor of the precious neologism “Global Globe”.
In contrast, the indispensable Michael Hudson has constantly shown how the U.S. and EU’s “strategic error of self-isolation from the rest of the world is so massive, so total, that its effects are the equivalent of a world war.”
Thus Prof. Hudson’s contention that the proxy war in Ukraine – not only against Russia but also against Europe – “may be thought of as World War III.”
In several ways, Prof. Hudson details, we are living “an outgrowth of World War II, whose aftermath saw the United States establish international economic and political organization under its own control to operate in its own national self-interest: the International Monetary Fund to impose U.S. financial control and dollarize the world economy; the World Bank to lend governments money to bear the infrastructure costs of creating trade dependency on U.S. food and manufactures; promoting plantation agriculture, U.S./NATO control of oil, mining and natural resources; and United Nations agencies under U.S. control, with veto power in all international organizations that it created or joined.”
Now it’s another ball game entirely when it comes to Global South, or Global Majority, of “Global Globe” real emancipation. Just take Moscow hosting the Russia-Africa summit in late July, then Beijing, with Xi in person, spending a day last week in Johannesburg with dozens of African leaders, all of them part of the new Non-Aligned Movement (NAM): the G77 (actually 134 nations), presided by a Cuban, President Diaz-Canel.
That’s the Russia-China Double Helix in effect – offering large swathes of the “Global Globe” security and high-tech infrastructure (Russia) and finance, manufactured exports and road and rail infrastructure (China).
In this context, a BRICS currency is not necessary. Prof. Hudson crucially quotes President Putin: what’s needed is a “means of settlement” for Central Banks for their balance of payments, to keep in check imbalances in trade and investment. That has nothing to do with a BRICS gold-backed supra-national currency.
Moreover, there will be no need for a new reserve currency as increasingly more nations will be ditching the U.S. dollar in their settlements.
Putin has referred to a “temporary” accounting unit – as intra-BRICS 11 trade will be inevitably expanding in their national currencies. All that will develop in the context of an increasingly overwhelming alliance of major oil, gas, minerals, agriculture and commodities producers: a real (italics mine) economy capable of supporting a new global order progressively pushing Western dominance into oblivion.
Call it the soft way to euthanize Hegemony.
All aboard the “malign China” narrative
Now compare all of the above with that piece of Norwegian wood posing as NATO secretary-general telling the CIA mouthpiece paper in Washington, in a unique moment of frankness, that the Ukraine War “didn’t start in 2022. The war started in 2014”.
So here we have a designated imperial vassal plainly admitting that the whole thing started with Maidan, the U.S.-engineered coup supervised by cookie distributor Vicky “F**k the E” Nuland. This means that NATO’s claim of a Russia “invasion”, referring to the Special Military Operation (SMO) is absolutely bogus from a legal standpoint.

Nonsense. As another Chinese scholar frames it, “China’s strategy has been to let sleeping dogs lie and let lying machines lie. Meanwhile, let China surpass them in their sleep and cause the Empire’s demise.”

The imperial master issued the order to “save” the Japanese seafood industry – a few scraps as quid pro quod for Tokyo acting as a rabid dog in the imperial Chip War against China, and dutifully pledging alliance at the recent Camp David summit side by side with the South Korean vassals.

In parallel, Sergey Glazyev, Minister of Macroeconomics at the Eurasian Economic Commission, part of the EAEU, has been among the very few warning about the new trans-humanist frontier: the Nanotechnology Injection craze ahead – something quite well documented in scientific journals.
Quoting Dr. Steve Hotze, Glazyev in one of his Telegram posts explained what DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) has been doing, “injecting nanobots in the form of graphene oxide and hydrogel” into the human body, thus creating an interface between nanobots and brain cells. Those familiar with Greek mythology will know that Eris was quite angry because she was not invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. So what to do ? Get a nest egg together and get out. I have a family member who was quite successful in Ohio but left for S/America. Bought a modest house in a rural area, raises his own chickens, a wide variety of vegetables. A small river running behind the place provides fish. Warm climate means no heating required and clothes are few. Cooking is on an outdoor grill using wood from the property. Car is an old VW from the 1970s. This is a guy who enjoyed the best of the best in the US and gave it all up.
He barely touches his pensions and savings which are all offshore. His health,which was poor in the US has improved, big belly gone and off a daily cocktail of medications. Now in his late 60s he just married a 30 year old Brazilian and she is pregnant so he must be still laying down pipe.
People on this site complain and complain looking for some saviour (like BRICS) or Trump to save the day and save them. They waste their time in despairing hope.

Taxation is necessary for a Sovereign countries FIAT currency to be legitimate for internal development and consumption. In theory a Government (of the people, by the people, for the people) prints currency backed by nothing. This currency is released to the population to develop the internal economy and raise every persons standard of living. For everyone to be willing to accept this currency for savings, trade, business and consumption it needs legitimacy which is why taxation is necessary. The Government only accepts “currency” to pay taxes. Not gold, silver, bitcoin, Rolex watches…just Government issued currency (i.e. USD). Without taxes, why would people accept pieces of paper for their wages (labor) or the sale of a house? Once FIAT currency is widely accepted, government can raise wages which offset the taxes paid. Money and currency are the direct opposites of each other. Currency is a debt instrument because every dollar that comes into existence is via a debt. The entire system is based on ever expanding debt and now the US is almost $33 Trillion in the hole.
Consider actual money, gold and silver, only because they are the most convenient forms of money. Oil, grains, sea shells, round stones, etc have all been considered money but they were too unwieldy for common commerce. The metals were chosen because they are compact and don’t rot primarily.
With real money, as in gold and silver that can’t be conjured into existence, there would be no need for economists, the single largest fraudulent profession on the planet. Governments would be out of the currency/money business since the metals are fungible; an ounce of gold from a South African mint is the same as an ounce from a Swiss mint, etc. The private miners could mine, the private refiners could refine, the private mints could mint and all this could happen without any gov’t interference as there is no need for gov’t in that entire chain. That would be the people’s money, not the flim flam of gov’t and banker bullshit currency.
No more arbitrage. No more creating currency via the process of fractional reserve lending. No more deficit spending. No more wars paid for by printing press. No more gov’t programs that can’t be paid for via direct taxation. No more central banks. No more gov’t stealing purchasing power via inflation as policy.

Perhaps it is so now, but there was a time when the Economist was already attacking Asian countries before their rise. At that time, it was more likely born out of a sense of racial superiority, and perhaps anxious fears of The Yellow Peril.
40 years ago when Singapore’s fast development was getting attention, the Economist embarked on attacks on the Singapore developmental model. The now familiar accusations against China of human rights abuses, totalitarianism, lack of political freedoms etc where liberally used against Singapore.
Thankfully we stayed on course, and today our critics have mostly shut up, and their attention is now focused on China. But Singaporeans are able to empathise with China, because we suffered from some of that treatment too.
Fortunately for Singapore, it was tiny and of absolutely no threat to the Empire, so the attacks were relatively mild compared with China. But now that China is poised to overtake the US economically, in nominal GDP terms, the Empire now feels that the threat is existential, and pulled out all the stops and gone on full demonisation mode.

As for philosophers vs. scientists, the scientists make several basic assumptions that they think are bedrock truths [1], but that the philosophers have demonstrated really are assumptions. Different religions assume different things about these assumptions, and have achieved different results. Historians chronicle these results.

Well it starts like this. Trade in between the Indian subcontinent + South East Asia and Europe is old (from Roman times) and it was first pioneered by the Malays + Indonesian sea farers. Indeed those Malay type peoples even settled many islands of the Indian Ocean (Madagascar being one). Now India and South East Asia are tropical places with well developed agriculture and thus a myriad of things grew (spices and the lot) which were processed and sent to Europe. The Romans were so influenced by this trade with the East that they even wanted to control this trade even more. There was a Roman expedition to deep Arabia on the coasts of the Red Sea. Roman troops come in from Egypt and they went deep South into Arabia towards Yemen. Conquering the local populations was not difficult, in many cases the locals were awed by the Romans, but the Romans found the place too poor and though controlling the land very expansive. So that Romans went back but the aim was driven by a desire to control the trade with the mysterious land of India.
Later we have Islam, and the Middle East was Islamized and so the trade in between the Indies (South Asia + South East Asia) came in Muslim hands. Persians, Arabs, Somalis, Indian Muslims, Arab Christians of Lebanon etc… you name it, the trade had more or less come into Islamic hands. The Venetians made a trade agreement with the Egyptians and literally got a monopoly of this trade with Europe which made Venice rich. Also worth remembering this trade in between the Indies and Europe was a major source of Income to the Middle East, we shall see later that as Europeans started trading directly with the Indies, the Middle East starts becoming very poor.
Now during the Crusades, Europeans become more aware of many of the luxurious items of the East. And later you had the Turkish conquest of Constantinople. The Turks either stop the trad or overtaxing. It is because of the Turks as well as a desire to break the monopoly of Venice, that the Portuguese and Spanish (just free of Moorish domination) decide to find a direct route to the Indies. One thing to remember is that Europeans were always superior in naval technology. The Portuguese found a way to India by circumnavigating Africa and the Spanish go to the Americas (so do the Portuguese in Brazil.) Trade by sea is very cheap compared to land and there are much less middle men. This would give the Portuguese and Europeans an advantage over the Middle Eastern land route. They could get the goods of the Indies much cheaper than what was coming via the Islamic World and Venice. An elite class of people with a lot of wealth (silver) had arisen in Europe and they wanted foreign exotic goods. The commoners were happy and self sufficient. These Asian goods were mostly destined for the European elites. Afanasy Nikitin, A Russian explorer to India in the 1400s was of the opinion that there is not much of India’s produce that the Russian (or any other European) commoner needed.
The Muslims in India were not happy with the coming of the Portuguese and tried everything to screw the Portuguese over. This would eventually lead to the Battle of Diu, which is one of the most important battles in human history and we see the superiority of European navies over Asian ones, at least the Middle Eastern + Indian ones. The Portuguese decimated a combined fleet of many Muslim powers (Sultan of Gujrat + Ottomans +Somalis) etc… Since then, for centuries, the Indian ocean came under the domination of European navies, first the Portuguese, then the Dutch, then the French and finally the British Royal Navy. It was only during WW2, when the Imperial Japanese Navy dominated the Indian Ocean for two years, that is an Asian Naval power took control over the Indian Ocean after centuries of European Naval domination.
Now the Netherlands gains independence from Spain and they too decide to take part in this trade. See the Dutchies doing it, the English felt that they should get into this trade too.
Now what these European trading powers really wanted was a MONOPOLY of trade in between the Indies and Europe. That is for example, the Dutch (or the Portuguese or the French etc…) wanted all trade in between the Indies and Europe pass through only the Dutch V.O.C. It was this monopoly of trade which was the source of their stupendous wealth, in other words the European trading houses were making their great wealth from rich Europeans, not Asians. And they would sell their goods not only to their home markets but to the entire European market. European silver started flowing in huge amounts to Asia thanks to these trading houses. For example, even before European conquests, Bengal benefited enormously by the huge inflow of Dutch and British silver.
And also worth remembering that the top prize in Asia was not what is not India but what is now Indonesia (Java). the first English East India Company ships went to Indonesia not India. But by this time, the Dutch had already built trade relations with the native Indonesian powers, all they wanted was monopoly of trade in between Europe and the Dutch East Indies, they were not interested in conquests or any internal affairs. But seeing the English, they saw a threat to their forming monopoly. The Dutch VOC wanted no trade should take place in between the local kings and the English EIC. Soon out of fear or break of monopoly thye started conquering native powers (now you control their foreign trade policies) and expelled the English from Indonesia.
So the English now decided to concentrate on trade with India where they became successful and where the Dutch were very unsuccessful, they were frustrated with their lack of profits with their Indian trade (as against their Indonesian trade) and since they already had first prize, Indonesia, they were already withdrawing from India. The English did nothing but trade for nearly a century with zero interference in Indian political affairs and that is what they intended to do for ever. Indeed one doctor from the English East India Company Sir, Thomas Roe successfully healed the daughter (of wife) of the Mughal Emperor, something in which even the Imperial Hakims (Islamic doctors) failed. the Mughal Emperor was very very pleased and he was ready to give Sit Thomas Roe anything he wanted. He would have given Sir Thomas Roe his daughter in marriage, one of the Imperial princesses (Roe would have to convert to Islam) and given him Imperial titles and lordship with land to rule over. But Sir Roe, a patriotic Englishman only asked for more trading rights in between England and India, which was granted.
But later, the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb went on a huge campaign to conquer the rest of India. This led to Imperial overreach, bankruptcy and stubborn resistance from Hindu powers like the Hindu Marathas of Western India and Hindu Ahoms of Assam in the East. The Marathas angry with the brutality of the Mughals kept on pressing on his Empire, and by the time Aurangzeb died, the Mughal Empire collapsed and the Maratha Empire took over. But soon the Maratha lords started infighting after the death of King Chatrapati Shivaji Bhosale, founder of the Maratha Empire. This led to anarchy and chaos in India and to protect their factories, European trading companies started building defences, bringing soldiers from home and hiring local soldiers. It is one of thee early tiny army first developed by the English East India Company which would later become the huge formidable Company Presidency Armies and later the huge British Indian Army and later the armies of modern day Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. So that tiny army first created by the English East India Company for their own protection is the great great grand daddy of today’s armed forces of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, totaling today more than 1.5 million!!!
Now French influence began increasing in India and it is only then that the English became alarmed, until then the English were only interested in trade with no interference (strictly by policy) in Indian affairs. And the Frenchman involved was no other than the Governor General of French India, Joseph Marquis Dupleix. Dupleix was made of the stuff conquerors are made of. But letters from France were commanding Dupleix to desist from Empire building and concentrate on profitable trade as Empire building would lead to waste of money. Yup, that is what letters from France conveyed. But Dupleix would not listen and he had a lot of support from Indian powers like Bahadur Jung and Hyder Ali. They were good friends with Dupleix and drooled about hiring French soldiers against their Indian enemies. Hyder Ali’s son Tipu Sultan would later fight a series of wars with the British and he was friends with Napoleon. It is now the English were alarmed and they too started interfering in Indian affairs as they were afraid that a repeat of Dutch East Indies would happen in India too, where the French would end up conquering India first and evict the English from Indian trade, like what was done to them by the Dutch before. Unfortunately for Dupleix a equally capable Englishman would come to India, Robert Clive. Also inter European wars would overflow into Asia, as European navies were present here and they would start fighting each other in case war broke out back home. One more thing which drove colonial conquests was the overflow of Inter European politics into the rest fo the World. This is how powerful Europe had become.
The famous battle of Plassey where the English conquered Bengal was nothing but part of the Seven Years War, where the English and their European, Native American and Asian allies fought France (and France’s European, Native American and Asian allies ) fought each other on three continents.

My travels in the early 1970s made it clear that colonialism had left behind a legacy of improvement in the lands and peoples under its suzerainty. I saw the buildings, the institutions, the political and governmental bequeathment, roads, infrastructure, etc, etc. No doubt about this benefit.
However, the Europeans did not do this for free. The cost was extraction of resources on their own terms, subjugating the native population with no choice of government and lack of free expression, and the obligation to buy finished products and other necessities from the colonial government. IOW, a market monopoly. Nice work if you can get it.
There are two sides to this phenomenon, like a tug of rope of benefit and deficit.
From the Buddhist perspective, none of the colonial powers had any justification in colonizing or dominating the other lesser developed countries. Instead, they could have negotiated in good faith, honestly and worked on a barter system that left decisions to the countries involved. Why wouldn’t an underdeveloped country agree to technology and knowledge that increased productivity, output, efficiency? And of course the compensation for such goods and services would have been normal and expected. But to kill for material advantage and domination of a people that did not attack you, and did not even know you existed? That is a deep sin. Bad Karma. And that Karma WILL be repaid and the scales balanced.
Centuries later, look at all the ex-colonial countries. They are all plagued with destructive social, political, economic diseases, like a careless scientist who worked on developing pathogens for genocidal use and became infected himself by carelessness.
