A 12-year-old Colorado boy became a victim of “woke” education when he was taken out of class and told he could not return unless he removed a Gadsden flag, or “Don’t Tread on Me,” patch from his backpack. The school backed down after a video went viral in which a school official told the boy and his mother that the problem with the patch is that the Gadsden flag’s origin is related to slavery and the slave trade. The school was criticized by individuals from across the political spectrum for seeming ignorance of the role the Gadsden flag played in the American Revolution. Among the critics was Colorado Governor Jared Polis, one of the few remaining Democrats willing to defend free speech from the woke mob.
This incident reminded me of a 2009 Department of Homeland Security “fusion center” report warning that individuals with Gadsden flag bumper stickers, or bumper stickers supporting my presidential campaign or the Libertarian or Constitution parties, were potentially dangerous extremists. After I and many other Americans objected, the offending report was withdrawn. But, the fact that it was issued in the first place, just like the fact the Colorado student was ever removed from class for his Gadsden flag patch, shows how the authoritarians view the “Don’t Tread on Me” symbol.
The reason the woke authoritarians hate the Gadsden flag has nothing to do with racism or extremism. It is because the flag represents a rejection of authoritarianism and an embrace of liberty. Benjamin Franklin originally used the rattlesnake to symbolize the rebellious American colonies. He chose the snake because the rattlesnake “never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders.” In other words, rattlesnakes follow the nonaggression principle that forbids the use of offensive force against another’s person or property, but allows the use of force to defend against any violations of one’s rights — including those committed by government officials.
In contrast, authoritarianism is rooted in the notion that politicians, bureaucrats, and their favored special interests have the right to tread on everyone.
The smearing of the Gadsden flag as racist is just the latest example of how the woke left is using its power in American education and cultural institutions to discredit the symbols and ideals of limited government and free markets. The woke left views schools as a place to indoctrinate children into Cultural Marxism rather than a place where children can gain a good education.
The rise of woke education is leading many parents to consider homeschooling. Parents looking to provide their children a quality home-based education that promotes real learning that does not push a political agenda, but does instruct in the history and philosophy of liberty, should look into my homeschooling curriculum. My curriculum provides students with a well-rounded education that includes rigorous programs in history, mathematics, and the physical and natural sciences. The curriculum also provides instruction in personal finance. Students can develop superior communication skills via intensive writing and public speaking courses. Another feature of my curriculum is that it provides students the opportunity to create and run their own businesses.
The government and history sections of the curriculum emphasize free-market economics, libertarian political theory, and the history of liberty. I encourage all parents looking at alternatives to government schools — alternatives that provide children with a well-rounded education that introduces them to the history and ideas of liberty without sacrificing education for indoctrination — to go to RonPaulCurriculum.com for more information about my homeschooling program.

A man was arrested at a Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign event in Los Angeles on Friday after he allegedly impersonated a U.S. Marshal while carrying a loaded gun, police said.
The event took place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in the 4400 block of West 8th Street, where Kennedy was giving a speech to mark Hispanic Heritage Month by discussing the need for “a comprehensive policy to secure the border and ease immigration pressure,” according to a news release.
The man appeared at a side entrance to the theater, claimed to be part of Kennedy’s security team and told personnel that he needed to be taken to the candidate immediately, Kennedy’s team said in a subsequent news release. Security guards detained him and called police, the release said.

Police received a radio call at about 4:30 p.m. reporting a man with a loaded gun, a shoulder holster and a badge that stated he was a U.S. Marshal, said J Chavez, public information officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. The man did not brandish a gun or threaten anyone, he added.
The man was arrested and taken to Wilshire Station, then booked on suspicion of a felony charge of carrying a concealed firearm, Chavez said. Police identified him as Adrian Paul Aispuro, 44. He remained jailed Saturday in lieu of $35,000 bail, booking records state.
Kennedy’s team said that police also took custody of a second man who arrived with Aispuro and had a backpack containing a handgun, multiple knives and extra ammunition. Police said they had no record of a second arrest.
Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated at Los Angeles’ Ambassador Hotel in 1968 just after winning California’s Democratic primary. His uncle, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1963.

In the wake of the incident, Kennedy’s campaign said it plans to again apply for U.S. Secret Service protection for the candidate after applications filed in May and August were rejected.
The protection is extended only to “major” presidential and vice presidential candidates, as identified by the Secretary of Homeland Security, and generally only within a year prior to the election, although exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis for “extraordinary” circumstances, according to guidance released by the Secret Service.
Triggered individual? Regardless of whether RFK Jr. is better off without SS protection. They were useless, or possibly part of the set up for the assassinations of JFK, & RFK.

Dr. Rand Paul Continues Fight Against Biden Administration’s Assault on Kentucky Values and School Programs
Recently, the Biden Administration announced their plan to withhold funding from schools with hunting and archery programs, based on purposeful misinterpretation of a provision in last year’s gun control legislation. This past week, I introduced the Educating Responsible Future Hunters Act as a continuation of my efforts to defend Kentucky from the Biden Administration’s assault on Kentucky values.
Image
Last year, I fought to protect Kentuckians’ rights during the Senate’s consideration of gun control legislation. I proposed several amendments, including one to remove the provision preventing schools from using funds to be spent on arming and training personnel to protect students and teachers.
The same provision I fought to have stripped from the gun control bill is now being used to justify the president’s crackdown on archery and hunting courses. My legislation would ensure this baseless attack on Kentucky and American values ends at the federal level.
More than 500,000 students participate and are certified through hunter education courses each year. These are important programs that help students learn how to handle firearms safely — in turn, decreasing firearm-related injuries and accidents.
My Educating Responsible Future Hunters Act would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 by eliminating the restriction on using funds for dangerous weapon provision or training and permits funding for training students in archery, hunting, or other shooting sports.

Dr. Rand Paul Leads Letter Requesting Information on CIA Whistleblower Allegations Concerning COVID-19 Origins Investigation
Last week, I sent a letter to the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William J. Burns, requesting information on the recent whistleblower allegations related to the CIA’s investigation into the origins of COVID-19.
According to a letter from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic (Select Subcommittee) and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), a recent whistleblower testimony made by a senior-level CIA Officer contends that the Agency paid off six analysts that determined COVID-19 likely originated from a lab leak.
ImageThe letter states that the CIA assigned seven officers with significant scientific expertise to a COVID Discovery Team. After their review, six of the seven members believed the intelligence and science available were sufficient to make a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The letter asserts that the six members were given a significant monetary incentive to change their position, leading to the CIA’s public determination of uncertainty on COVID-19 origins.
These allegations are deeply concerning and raise serious questions about the Agency’s investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Rand Paul Meets with the Paducah Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
Image
I was pleased to join the Paducah Chamber of Commerce for their Washington, D.C visit this past week at the U.S. Capitol.
For the last several years, government policies at the Federal and State levels have subjected our Kentucky businesses to restriction after restriction. These burdensome regulations, coupled with $6 trillion in government spending, have made life harder for Kentuckians.
The truth remains: the government needs to get out of the way, and the federal government needs to stop borrowing money. I look forward to continuing to work with the Paducah Chamber of Commerce as we both work toward economic prosperity for our Commonwealth.
If you are planning on visiting Washington, D.C., my office will be happy to assist you in arranging tours for your trip. You can find more information HERE.
Senate Democrats Reject Dr. Paul’s Resolution to Protect Senate Pages from COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates
As a continuation of my efforts to protect individual freedoms and push back against unscientific mandates, last week, I introduced a resolution that would have protected Senate Pages from the imposition of vaccination requirements related to COVID-19—especially given the myriad of studies showing that for young and healthy people the risks posed by the vaccine are greater than the risks posed by COVID-19. Image
Multiple scientific studies have shown a heightened risk of myocarditis for children and teenagers after taking an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. Furthermore, there is consensus that the vaccines do not stop the transmission of COVID-19.
Senate Democrats once again refused to follow the science and objected to my resolution passing by unanimous consent.
Over the last several years, I have taken numerous actions to defend Americans from those who fail to follow the science on COVID-19. Mark my words, I’m not done fighting. And you can bet I’ll continue taking action and speaking out on this issue.

Dr. Paul Highlights Government Collusion with Social Media Platforms to Censor Americans
ImageRecently, I expressed concerns about the U.S. government using artificial intelligence for applications that would infringe on American civil liberties during a hearing titled “Governing Artificial Intelligence Through Acquisition and Procurement.” During the hearing, I highlighted multiple instances where federal agencies used tax dollars to collude with social media companies to violate the First Amendment rights of American citizens.
I spoke about how government agencies have spent years conducting unconstitutional surveillance and colluding with private companies to stifle the protected speech of Americans. Federal agencies, like the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), used taxpayer dollars to pressure large social media platforms into moderating online discourse on topics like COVID-19 vaccines and the use of masks.
The same agencies that have continuously worked to censor free speech are now using public funds to develop artificial intelligence technologies intended to shape information online.
I’ll continue to stress that Congress should prevent federal agencies from suppressing constitutionally protected speech.

Jerry Pournelles wife, Roberta, bless their souls, created a reading program which taught students to read who had inch thick folders explaining the student would never be able to read.
That program still exists, I don’t know the status.
We are home-schooling our (would be) middle-school boy this year. Dr. Paul, if you might be reading – but really for other readers – I looked all through your website for your curriculum. It’s great stuff, but the only thing I didn’t like was that it requires a lot of screen time.
Doing away with most of the paper books is efficient, I understand. It also allows for easier revisions. However, even if it’s not internet viewing, we want to keep this boy in the real books for a while longer at least. Perhaps we will consider your program for another year – your Civics and History would be the best!
I saw that video of that pathetic government school teacher trying to “learn” the boy some erroneous history of the Gadsden flag. Her stupidity was not the big problem. It was the inherent lesson that you must be a compliant subject of the Regime.
The last people you’re gonna get rebels out of is the government school teacher crowd.
I talked to a lady who is a “third-party” for homeschoolers in my State. She has 5 children, all who were homeschooled. Most of them finished high-school level learning at 14 y/o. She has 25 grandchildren, 20 of whom are being homeschooled. That’s success, right there! She also told me that, yes, there has been a big uptick due to the Kung Flu PanicFest.
Demystifying “realgeopolitik” education scarcity. Expand on the 2nd amendment, cause the “founding fathers” never intended more than wrestling away tax-levying powers from England.
MLS (Major League Soccer) the American professional soccer league, banned the ‘Spirit of 76’ flag because someone, somewhere, said it was “racist”. I haven’t watched a game since.
I was never a fan of Communist Kickball* to begin with, Rich. (Great for the kids though.) Kudos to you for virtually telling them where to stick it.
For me, there’s only so much time in the day, so I’ll pick any excuse to stop reading some site, watching a Woke movie, etc…
.
* See also Communist Kickball LIVES! for a humorous Simpsons clip.
Achmed, you do realise that what Americans mistakenly refer to as ‘soccer’ (but is universally referred to as football throughout the world), was first played on a professional basis, and in professional leagues, in Great Britain in the 19th century ?
And of course Britain in the 19th century, was the bastion of Free Market Capitalism on the planet.
So one could hardly refer to it as Commie K-ball.
Meanwhile, the sports most loved in the U.S (baseball and American football), are spin-offs from cricket (where a bat and ball are used, both sides get to bat for a few innings, and RUNS are scored), while American football originated from Rugby (only Rugby is played by REAL mean who don’t wear helmets and rarely use any padding on any part of their body).
What Americans may not be aware of, is that there are two (2) variations of ‘Rugby’. ie: Rugby Union and Rugby League.
The latter has by far the fitter players, is played at a faster pace, has infinitely better tacklers and is much tougher on the players (Rugby League only field 13 players on the field Vs 15 players in Rugby Union).
Importantly also, the game has very few stoppages, so a scheduled 80 min game will typically last 100 mins (and that includes 10 mins for half time).
In other words, the game has CONTINUITY OF MOTION and thus tests a players endurance to the absolute limit.
Contrast that to American Football, which is scheduled as a 60 min game, but often takes 4-5 hours from kick off until the end of play.
That’s because of the eff’n time outs and such in NFL, where players have time to stop, get a bite to eat or perhaps a pedicure, and update their Facebook page while they’re waiting. (It’s laughable).
And, unlike American football that has an offensive team, a defensive team, a kicking team, a receiving team (and more than likely a field goal and ‘safety team’), in Rugby there is only ONE team, with a handful of reserves to substitute in case of injury etc.
In other words, the players are versatile. They tackle, they run with the ball, they can goals/punt the ball/catch the ball etc.
Australia are the World Champions in Rugby League and have been for almost all of the last 50 years. Duane ‘The Rock’ Johnson played Rugby as a kid when he was living in New Zealand and Australia.
I’m told that in American football, there are some 400 pound slobs positioned on the line of scrimmage, that go their WHOLE PROFESSIONAL CAREER without ever touching the ball once.
What sort of a sport is that ?
In Rugby, ALL the players handle the ball AT LEAST a few times per game.
Here is a 2 min sequence of some of the typical big hits in Rugby League (this is not a compilation from the last 50 years that’s been cherry picked for exaggerated effect – that sequence is just a fraction of the hits form 2019 alone):
Video Link
Look closely at that video again. As you can see, there are:
1) NO helmets
2) NO shoulder pads
3) NO thigh pads
4) Perhaps a handful of the smaller players that wear some soft padding head gear.
Meanwhile, let’s do a comparison of Rugby League Vs American Football.
The team I’ve supported since I was a kid is the South Sydney Rabbitohs – half owned by Russell Crowe the movie actor.
There was, a few years ago, big fellow that attempted to play in the South Sydney First Grade side (ie: the first string side).
He was plenty strong but unable to make the grade – ruled NOT NOT FIT ENOUGH.
So, unable to make the grade in the Australian NRL (National Rugby League competition), he instead gave American Football a try, even though he’d NEVER played it before and DID NOT KNOW the rules.
INSTANTLY he was a sensation with the Philadelphia Eagles (read the story in the link below titled):
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9993471/NRL-reject-Jordan-Mailata-earns-108million-contract-NFL-team-Philadelphia-Eagles.html
His name is Jordan Mailata. That’s him (all 6′ 8″ of him) in the photo below:
He is one huge M-F’er.
Meanwhile, here is a 10 min video of a clueless American reacting to Greg Inglis (an indigenous Australian and one of the superstars* of Rugby League in the last 20 years):
Video Link
(*NFL fans, you will not regret taking the time to watch this. Here is a player than can do EVERYTHING – yes, he can even kick goals and punt the ball).
BTW, in relation to the two videos in my last comment above, be sure to watch on FULL SCREEN mode (and turn the volume up) for maximum effect. Ideally link it to your widescreen TV if you can.
(The small screen just doesn’t do justice to those videos).
I grew up in a neighborhood where a few of the guys were sons of Italian immigrants. Soccer was like a religion to their fathers and somehow, here in America, we would actually play pick up games of soccer in the schoolyard. Very strange, I know and most of us ended up playing American football in high school but I actually came to like the game.
I’m sorry I didn’t read (and watch) the whole thing, T.V. I’m no sportsball fan period. (I have a soft spot for Baseball, it being a true American pastime.)
My PS post was somewhat facetious, so you obviously didn’t read it. I’ll re-state some of the unfacetious part in a reply to the commenter Rich.
I’m sorry, Rich, but when I’ve got a ball coming at me, I have every reason to catch it, without catching shit from some ref. I should be able to to throw it also. God gave us 2 arms and hands for this.
That’s why I think soccer is unnatural and stupid. Ann Coulter agrees with me, if that means anything to anyone – our reasons overlap only to some degree.
Ultimate Disc is the way to go. It’s got the same amount of running (a LOT, of course), as soccer does, but, man, you can do a lot more with that Frisbee™ than you can with a round ball.
OUCH!
I played a bit of Baseball – in High School. Due to my skill level, my position was mostly Left Out!
In Brooklyn, Baseball was the ONLY sport we knew. [much Stickball in the streets] NY City had 3 Major League Teams, Giants-in the borough – Queens, Yankees, in the Bronx, & the Brooklyn Dodgers. Teams traveled by subway to the Home (city) Games (.05 cent tickets). Entrance to Junior Farm League AAA, or AA games was FREE!
Tickets at Dodger’s Ebbets Field were .50 cents.
My Favorite Sport is Women’s Beach Volleyball.
Your loss my friend.
Senator Rand Paul – in the Senate. he is putting up a fight.

Who on earth are you writing this stuff for ?
Has a lot to do with homeschooling, huh?
Obviously I’m writing it for the benefit of the UR readers.
Many of them (and you are a stand-out example, judging by the ignorant remarks you’ve posted in the past), are not very well informed on a variety of issues.
No need to thank me. You’re welcome.
The Ideal of Education. The advancing of our next generations:
Home Schooling usually ends at Highschool. Many Homeschooled take exams and enter institutions of Higher Learning. They rejoin the official ‘education’ system/bureaucracy. Even Ron Paul attended Higher Education institutions, in order to obtain his Doctorate in medicine.
This is a short essay of one great avenue of Educational and Moral decline of our institutions of ‘Higher’ Learning.
Watch the Ball; Avoid the Book; Let the Republic die.
1. Caitlin Clark -possible SALARY of $200,000, plus NIKE shoe/sneaker contract (probably worth much more $$$). Nike Owners were using SLAVE LABOR in Indonesia, some years ago. No idea if they have ceased that practice.
2. Clark & the other ‘College’ athletes are $PROFESSIONAL$ ATHLETES. It is unclear if they are required to attend classes, & learn to read & write, and do basic math in their associated Institutions of Higher Learning. Basic math would help them count their $$$.
3. The ideal of learning, with healthy sport activities freely participated in by the students in their free time after classes and studies, so that they may achieve the healthy ideal of a sound unity of body and mind, has been lost. Paying young people to utilize the name of a College, play a sport, and raise $$$ for the College owners, is a microcosm of the decline of the INTEGRITY of Learning, in our schools, and in our society. This system represents CORRUPTION. Its first victims are our young generations, whose minds are rotted by visions of FALSE HEROES, and FALSE VALUES to worship. They are taught to denigrate those who are prepared to STUDY, and WORK, and DEFEND our Country, and achieve a goal of a brighter future for all our citizens.
4. Caitlin Clark is a fantastic athlete. But that is the sum of it all!
Dr. Peter J. Antonsen – nom de guerre, Durruti
