We don’t get much news out of Iceland. It’s another one of those un-newsworthy places, like Uruguay or New Zealand, slumbering in quiet, contented prosperity away from the noise and fuss that prevails elsewhere. When we do get news out of Iceland it’s usually generated by Mother Nature, not by Her human children: a volcanic eruption or an earthquake.
So it’s good to see that when the Icelanders themselves generate news, it’s news of a happy sort, at any rate from the National Conservative point of view.
So it was this week. More precisely, last week: on June 13th Iceland’s parliament, the Althing (founded 930 AD, one the world’s oldest surviving parliaments) passed an immigration bill that mainly targets asylum seekers.
I should say, just to clarify, that the phrase “asylum seekers” here is not being used in the loose way we’ve become accustomed to from our own media, to refer to anyone at all who wanders into your country without going through proper immigration procedures, whether or not they bother actually to seek asylum. Here it means illegal border-crossers who really do claim asylum, truly or falsely, on the grounds they were persecuted back home.
This bill that was just passed decrees that if an alien’s asylum claim is rejected, he will lose all access to benefits—housing, healthcare, and so on—after thirty days.
That sounds fair to me. This report I’m reading, however, says that
Human rights organisations in Iceland have strongly opposed the bill, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, and Amnesty International.

Iceland has one of those parliamentary systems in which different parties, in this case three different parties, form a coalition to legislate and govern. All the members of parliament from all three of the coalition parties voted for this bill.
I was amused to see that one of the lesser parties voting against the bill was the Pirate Party, which holds six seats in the Althing and is apparently libertarian—I wrote about them in 2016.

The Pirates submitted more than twenty amendments to the bill, but only one was approved.
One of the Pirate Party MPS sputtered angrily that, quote:
This issue confirms the stance I’ve held for a long time, which is that this government is hostile to refugees.
One reason this bill came forward was that Iceland has been brisk about deportations of failed asylum seekers, including in recent years an Iraqi man in a wheelchair and an Albanian woman in her ninth month of pregnancy. The human-rights people raised protests; the politicians figured the law needed firming up.
A rather nifty YouTube video I discovered when browsing tells me that the main source countries for immigrants to Iceland are currently, in order: Poland (way out ahead), Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Lithuania, the Philippines, Norway, Romania, Thailand, the U.K., Latvia, Portugal, and the U.S.A.
I dunno: Seems to me that where Iceland’s immigration policy is concerned, there’s a lot to like.

Just makes my blood boil at the incredibly regressive, racist, backwards, overly conservative US Americans.
Unlike the open-minded Europeans who are not scared of change, and indeed change like chameleons, the US Americans’ country looks just like it did 100 years ago. Europeans countries like Iceland, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, etc. look vastly different than 100 years ago…thanks to their changyness.
Unlike the open-hearted Europeans who welcome the poor and underprivileged masses of the world, the US Americans will never let an immigrant in, unless that immigrant is of their preferred race.
Look at all of the unfairly poor people in the world who did nothing wrong to inherit such poor societies, who are victims of their birth.
Europeans, being such good liberal progressive people who want to change the world, do such a good job of taking the most straightforward action to making the world more just: opening their opportunities up to the world’s poor.
US Americans, just hoarding their wealth – hardly a single non-white-male Christian in high places in the USA, thanks to their very illiberal practice of discrimination!
Honestly the US Americans should allow infinite immigration because they don’t deserve their country. The landmass of the USA belongs to its Indigenous, therefore it should be populated by non-indigenous, non-Caucasian peoples. The white US Americans can just be absorbed away bc they are subhumans who don’t deserve to live anyways.
I don’t know how US Americans with an average IQ (there is no such thing as a US American with a high IQ) can stand to live in such a regressive, bigoted, closed society.
It’s very important to hate US Americans. We have to stand against regressive people bc they is wrong and the meaning of “wrong” is that you have to fight it and hate it. It’s imperative for the good, progressive people groups to be proud and be loved by everybody, and for the regressive people groups to feel like crap and be hated by everybody. That’s why it is so important to constantly call out the USA and tout Europe. Europe is a paragon of liberal openness.
TL:DR Europeans are so much better bc they are so liberal and it warms my heart to see what a diverse and inclusive, open-hearted continent it is across the pond.

Europeans strongly hate Americans for being not liberal enough. They view us all as being fundamentalist Christians who believe in young-earth Creationism – and they have almost no tolerance for unorthodox beliefs and/or religiosity. They view us as being deeply biologically inferior.
So they would try to keep us out, just as they keep the non-whites out. I’m not making this up, I have evidences. I’ve seen countless posts on internet forums like reddit and Quora where Europeans say that they don’t want American immigrants.
Oh yeah, and they also insist that we have infinite immigration. Once again, I see this all of the time on reddit and Quora, that Europeans expect the USA to have open borders.
If you don’t like that, they will chalk it up to your biological inferiority (“inability to handle change”). From their point of view, this is the right thing, and they would assume that people who disagree with them are inherently broken.
Suffice to say, they are not going to welcome an American like you or me.

Iceland may have done a little something here, but a couple years ago, the ADL forced them to drop a circumcision ban. They aren’t completely independent.

Europeans hate Americans for being crude colonials. They see Americans as little different from mestizos. As their economic situation becomes more precarious or they genuinely feel threatened they will flip and go fash. Look at the way they describe Russians, who they also view as mestizo.
They would absolutely love to dump their migrants on the US knowing full well the negative consequences, similarly to the NY Times readership dumping populations on rural Midwesterners. Something similar motivated Antebellum Yankee fantasies of blood and fire slave revolts in Dixie. A lot of this is bourgeois insecurity. Europe and the US are run by bourgeois, our elites are drawn from the bourgeois. There are some aristocrats for window dressing/tourism, but they are toothless.
