Israeli elections are a movable feast. The fourth round is over, and they already anticipate the fifth, perhaps in August. The Israelis just can’t form a stable government. They’ve got the Italian merry-go-round virus of unstable governments. Italians get a new government at an average of one every thirteen months. The Israeli mutation of the Italian virus has its own peculiarity. The Italians can form a minority government; in Israel, if there is no majority for the government, new elections are automatically called for. Now thirteen parties have entered the parliament, but it will not be easy to make a government coalition based on a parliamentary majority.
Why can’t they form a government? They do not differ much. With few exceptions, Israeli politicians and their parties are of one mold: they are Right or far-Right; strongly nationalist, and neoliberal –somewhere between the John Birch Society and the KKK. The problem is that the party leaders hate each other, and they don’t want to accept Palestinians even as junior partners in their government. And without Palestinians, none can achieve a parliamentary majority.
The bulk of Palestinians have no Israeli citizenship, like the American Indians had no US citizenship. Still, almost two million Palestinians are citizens of Israel, and are entitled to vote; they make up 20 per cent of all Israeli citizens. Yet they are kept out of the decision-making. In the previous elections, the Palestinian parties joined together and won 15 seats in the Parliament. All pretenders for the office of prime minister refused to accept them as partners, and resigned hereby setting off the new tour of elections. In the most recent elections, the Palestinian vote was divided between (1) Communists and Arab Nationalists who would love to join a leftist government and (2) a conservative Muslim party perfectly willing to join Netanyahu government together with other Jewish religious parties. Even so, right-wing Jews refuse to join with right-wing Arabs, and left-wing Jews refuse to accept left-wing Arabs. The Jews don’t want to sit with goyim around the same table.
They have other self-imposed limitations, too. Some don’t want to sit with religious Jews. Some are of the “Never Netanyahu” persuasion. Once upon a time in Israel there were left-wing and right-wing parties with their own ideologies; now they are divided by one question, namely whether Benjamin Netanyahu, nicknamed Bibi, will be the prime minister again.
Bibi has ruled Israel since 1996 intermittently. During the breaks, he held various top posts. Israeli liberals hate him, just like their American brethren hate Trump. They curse the stupid deplorables who stubbornly continue to vote for Bibi. The well-off and educated Israelis despise Bibi. The Israeli liberals considered the removal of Trump as a cue for them: if Trump was overthrown, now is the time to overthrow Bibi, they thought. But popular vote is not decisive enough.
The Bibi Hate Complaint is an Israeli twin of Trump Derangement Syndrome. At a Passover Seder table, good Israelis called on God to punish Bibi like He punished the Pharaoh, and re-tweeted their curses. They want to get rid of Bibi by fair means (elections) or foul (legal tricks). The judiciary system is in the hands of the liberals, and has been weaponised against Bibi. He certainly is a criminal and deserves to be sentenced for life for his bombing of Gaza and Syria, but Israeli judges are unlikely to consider those actions a crime.
Israel’s judicial system is the most rotten part of the Jewish state. They have sanctioned the use of torture, ethnic cleansing, confiscation of Palestinian lands and homes, the expulsion of Palestinians, and have approved the bombing of Gaza and Lebanon. There was no war crime or crime against humanity committed in Israel that did not receive the approval and blessing of the judiciary. Even for straightforward mass murder, the Israeli court had sentenced the murderer to a fine of ten cents! The courts have declared all the state lands of Palestine to be the property of the Jewish people. They have also allowed the construction of Jewish settlements on Palestinian lands, and the indefinite imprisonment for Palestinian parliamentarians. The judges are as unfair and dishonest as in the US.
The actual charges being brought against Netanyahu are as hollow as those against Bill Clinton and Donald Trump. Bibi is accused of accepting gifts – cigars and pink champagne – from Arnon Milchan, the Hollywood producer (L.A. Confidential), tycoon and spy for Israel. The prosecutor’s office has never been able to prove Bibi did something in return for this unheard-of generosity that he wouldn’t have done unless bribed with bubbly. Another case accused Bibi of trying to make the mass media less hostile to him. If this is a crime, all politicians are criminals!
They want to send Bibi to jail, and any reason will do. Bibi understands this, and stubbornly clings to power. It is one thing to peacefully step down to a well-deserved retirement, and it is another thing to go to prison for several years. Thus, Bibi fights for his freedom, and the only way to do that is to form a government. He passed the first obstacle: the president empowered him to try and gather a coalition. That wasn’t an easy thing: newspapers (as hostile to him as the New York Times is hostile to Trump) tried to persuade the president to give the mandate to somebody else. Now he is almost within reach of forming a new government, but this tantalising almost may still be his undoing. He has to convince the religious Jew, Naphtali Bennett, and religious-conservative Muslim, Mansour Abbas, to join him.
However, there is no real choice for the voters; the potential candidates for the prime minister’s office aren’t all that different. The once all-powerful Israeli Left alliance made up of Social Democrats, immigrants from Eastern Europe and the Russian Empire, strong nationalists like the interregnum Polish socialists of Marshal Pilsudski--- has collapsed. One part of them switched to LGBT support, the other – to the fight against the grammatical gender of possessive pronouns, the third – to the fight against religion and religious Jews. The ‘support of workers and peasants’ has completely disappeared from their agenda, for it’s migrant workers from Thailand who do the peasant work in the Jewish state, while the industrial workers are Ukrainian and Romanian illegal immigrants under the supervision of a Russian guard.
Israel is strongly pro-American, and is likely to remain so. However, Bibi is “friends” with President Putin; he often visits Russia; always ready to ask for a favour; he never does anything in return for Russia, but at least he is not overtly hostile. He never fulfils his promises to Russia. However, the alternative potential prime ministers of Israel are even less sympathetic to Russia.
Anti-Semitism
An interesting new development is the rise of Israeli anti-Semitism. Israeli Socialist Zionists were secular but not really hostile to the Jewish faith and faithful. In a recent piece, Miko Peled has stressed the hostility of early Zionists to contemporary non-Zionist Jews. Though true, that was long time ago. This attitude didn’t survive World War Two. Anti-Jewish Zionism (Jewish self-hate, in Peled’s terms) was built on the rise of German National Socialism; if Hitler were to win the war, perhaps this kind of brutal Nietzschean Zionism would become dominant, as the ideological predecessors of Netanyahu, Yair Stern and Yitzhak Shamir had planned. After Germany’s defeat, the whole discourse of Soil and Blood, of Work as opposed to financial speculations, of devotion to Tradition, had been defeated as well. Zionism had to lower its goals, change its vocabulary, and end its hostility to ordinary Jews, warts and all.
After the Jewish state was established, relations between Orthodox (non-Zionist) Jews and Zionist Israelis became, if not fraternal, then quite tolerant, as between, say, ordinary Americans and Mennonites. Ben Gurion promised and granted them the Status Quo arrangement. It worked, more or less, for over 70 years.
Yair Lapid and his Yesh Atid party were secular, perhaps mildly anti-clerical, for years; but pugnacious anti-clericalism in Israel had been started by Avigdor Lieberman, the head of the ‘Russian’ party and a sworn enemy of Netanyahu. Moreover, he began as anti-clerical, but very soon he glided into anti-Semitic tropes. Probably he had thought he would tap a whole new reservoir of votes, of right-wing anti-religious Israelis, and undermine Netanyahu who was always friendly to religious Jews. However, his ruse failed when it came to votes. Yair Lapid took the votes of Israelis who felt strongly about religious laws. But Lieberman’s reckless anti-Jewish talk did have an impact.
The Covid crisis has made anti-Semitism fashionable in Israel. The Orthodox Jews rejected the accepted Coronavirus narrative. They kept their synagogues and schools open; they didn’t observe social distancing and the mask regime. All hell broke loose; even polite people spoke of ‘disease-carrying rodents with long whiskers’, of ‘ugly idle Jews’ that didn’t care about public health and ignored the wise rules of the Corona Tsar de jour. It has become so bad, that a leader of Shas, a religious party of Oriental Jews, has lodged a bill against anti-Semitism, something Israel never before contemplated.
Whilst the Covid crisis impacted all mankind, Israel was a leader in dealing with it; at first by severe lockdowns, and then by massive vaccination. Israeli security services were involved all the way. The Mossad foreign intelligence, with its resources and connections, provided the country with sampling sticks and masks; Israeli intelligence officers were stealing the items ordered by other states and intercepting foreign supplies. An application created by the Israeli security forces tracked all movements and contacts; electronic handcuffs, cynically called “freedom bracelets”, similar to those used for house arrest, have been developed and are being used for those who come from abroad. Israel was the first to enter lockdown, and first to make a deal with Pfizer. Bibi has turned the country with its highly computerised medical care records into an experimental laboratory. Pfizer receives detailed information from Israel on how people with different medical conditions respond to the vaccine. For this, Pfizer supplied Israel with a large number of vaccinations, so that most Israeli adults have already been vaccinated, and now the next step is to vaccinate children and babies. Israel has 35 million doses of vaccine, more than enough for its population. That was the time for the two to fell out. Israelis stopped paying, Pfizer stopped deliver ing. Israel had a good reason: Netanyahu promised to pay Pfizer well over the going rate. Such promises are rarely fulfilled and Jews aren’t famous for sticking to such promises. And anyway Israel has a lot of ampules.
Bibi gave royally generous gifts of the vaccine to the countries and leaders he considered useful, but not to the Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza. He even blocked delivery of Russian vaccine to Gaza. The Orthodox Jews also vaccinated, though much less than the secular population. Anyway, since January the Orthodox Jews have far fewer sick people than any other group. They are still persecuted and ‘when an Orthodox Jew gets on a bus everyone looks at him like he’s a leper’, reported Reuters. This schism will last long, probably as long as Covid-related measures, or even longer.
Despite having a very high vaccination rate, Israel is still in the grips of Corona hysterics. The country has been quarantined for almost a year, with short breaks. The airports have been closed down. Vaccination is practically mandatory. The psychological pressure on the unvaccinated is so strong that very few people can withstand it. Without a Green Pass, the digital proof of vaccination, one can’t visit a restaurant or enter a supermarket. The courts have allowed the firing of employees who refuse vaccination. The vaccinated also get sick with covid and they do spread infection. A new strain has emerged that affects adolescents and young people; masks are required everywhere. As the Green Pass is lodged in smartphones, for the first time ever the government has full, real-time control over the population.
Why did Israel become almost the first country to take Covid so seriously? It is not widely known that Israel is one of the leading countries in the field of bacteriological warfare. The Institute for Biological Research in Ness Ziona develops deadly bacteria and viruses; there were cases when their effectiveness was tested on Palestinians. We do not know how or where the Covid originated; but the first country affected by Covid (after the outbreak in Wuhan, in China) was Iran, where members of the government fell ill at the same time, with a particularly tough and deadly strain.
Let’s remember that Iran is Israel’s main enemy; Bibi is constantly at war with Iran on all fronts. Dozens of Iranian tankers were blown up by the Israeli saboteurs of Flotilla 13. While the Wall Street Journal reported that a few Iranian tankers had been sabotaged by Israeli frogmen, Israelis were upset and said they sabotaged “dozens”, not just a few. This week they sabotaged the mother ship of the Iranian Navy in the Red Sea. Israeli terrorists kill Iranian scientists and military personnel, Israeli planes bomb pro-Iranian militia bases in Syria. The “choice” of Iran as the first Covid victim makes one wonder whether Israel is, if not behind the creation of Covid, then behind its spread? Ron Unz considered it possible that Covid was a US bioweapon deployed against China. He wrote:
Across the entire world the only political elites that have yet suffered any significant human losses have been those of Iran, and they died at a very early stage, before significant outbreaks had even occurred almost anywhere else in the world outside China. Thus, we have America assassinating Iran’s top military commander on Jan. 2nd and then just a few weeks later large portions of the Iranian ruling elites became infected by a mysterious and deadly new virus, with many of them soon dying as a consequence. Could any rational individual possibly regard this as a mere coincidence?
Indeed it is possible that Israeli biowarriors knew of the virus, knew of its employment in Iran and China (or even deployed it), and were aware of its danger. Would they, Israelis or Americans, use a bioweapon that could drift to their own countries? Ron Unz deals (ibid) with this question at length. He suggests that they could just be hare-brained and vicious enough. Israelis were short-sighted enough to attack an Iranian tanker in such a place and time that the whole Mediterranean shore of Israel was polluted by spilled oil. “Israel Sabotaged Iranian Ship, Caused Massive Oil Spill on Own Shores” reported Israeli-American investigative journalist Richard Silverstein – “The Israeli mine, which was supposed to cause minor damage, actually ripped a hole so big that much of the contents of the ship’s hold leaked into the Mediterranean. This is what caused the Israeli environmental disaster: Israel itself.” If they could be silly enough for that, they are silly enough for anything.
This week, in an extensive, rare interview, Russian top security man Nikolai Patrushev accused the US of developing bioweapons in Fort Detrick, Maryland and in many labs bordering Russia and China. The same day, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at the press briefing: “According to openly available reports, the US has set up 16 bio-labs in Ukraine alone. Why does it need to build so many labs all over the world? What activities has the US military been conducting in these labs and the base at Fort Detrick? Why does the US stand alone in opposing the establishment of a verification mechanism under the Biological Weapons Convention? Could it be that there are places within these labs and base where the US dare not allow in international verification?” Before the recent ‘Putin killer’ remark, the Russians and Chinese never said anything that offensive to Americans. It is not impossible that Netanyahu had first-hand knowledge of the Covid danger, and for this reason he acted fast as he did.
Will Israel ever tone down its aggression? Yes, if and when the Jews will grant the right to vote and other rights to the Palestinians living under Jewish rule. Will this happen in our lifetime? How long will the world put up with apartheid? It’s hard to predict. Meanwhile, we should not worry too much about who will rule Israel – it’ll either be Bibi Netanyahu or one of his second-rate clones.

Wow what a godawful culture. I’m a pro zionist in the sense it sure would be nice if we could keep all the semitic people over there… social distancing at it’s best.
Allowing judges to effectively select their replacements leaves the Israel Courts stuck in a 70’s-80’s frame of reference that has no relevance to current events. Their sympathy with the far left Labor-Gesher movement drives their animus towards Netanyahu.
Various court observers have noted that the failing judiciary could take Over Three Years to hear the Netanyahu case. Realistically, expect the case to never finish unless the judges feel they have 61+ votes in the Knesset to support their predetermined guilty verdict.
One giant advantage of the Israeli system is that it runs fairly well under a “Caretaker” administration. The technical issues, such as Budget, are inconvenient but manageable.
The Right, Center, and even Gantz’s Center-Left Blue & White party agree on major policy. The anti-Netnyahu forces are stuck because they cannot form a coalition that includes Far-Left Labour and Extreme-Left Joint Muslim List. This leaves Netanyahu in charge, running the government in a Centrist manner.
The Labor Left idea of integration has failed for 50+ years. At this point it is clear that the Muslim Occupiers in Judea & Samaria [MOJS] are not willing to live peacefully with Palestinian Jews. After decades of terrorist violence, Palestinian Jews have hardened their position and ate not willing to live alongside the MOJS.
Instead of repeating this proven mistake for *another* generation, why not consider other options? How many Muslim parents would voluntary leave the limited life under Fatah/Hamas corruption if they had an honorable and financially viable route to leave the violence & security restrictions behind?
A New Muslim Palestine that does not have a land border with Jewish Palestinian (a.k.a. Israel) would allow the two sides to disengage. It is not a 100% solution, but it is a practical path forward given 50+ years of historical conflict.
Muslim Apartheid targeting Palestine Jews and Christians needs to be denounced. As long as Apartheid Islamic Jihadists are targeting Infidels (Christians & Jews), progress will remain elusive. Blaming the Jewish victims of Muslim war crimes, such as the ludicrous & corrupt ICC sham, makes already poor relations even worse.

If COVID-19 is an American bioweapon then its manufacturers must have been targeting Western populations for social engineering purposes, or they are completely stupid. China, Japan, and South Korea have fewer cases than Israel combined according to Johns Hopkins. COVID-19 prefers people with European ancestry.
Israel’s destruction was planted by its right of return policy which is in conflict with Judaism’s matrilineal proto-racial descent policies. If apartheid doesn’t motivate the world to demand the liberalization of Israel, the growing Russian zera yisrael in its midst will destroy the Jewish ethnic democracy from within for not being Jewish enough for the Jewish ethnic democracy.

(1) To help understand Netanyahu’s stitched-up legal difficulties in Israel, it’s helpful to consider a major theme of rebel Canadian Jew Henry Makow, that there is a big but rather masked intra-Jewish conflict beween Soros globalist Jews, and Netanyahu Zionist Jews. Netanyahu is linked to European right-wing nationalists, Soros to the EU mainstream; Trump to Netanyahu, Biden-Harris to Soros, and so on.
(2) Re what Israel Shamir writes above about Israeli judicial corruption – being horrific and as bad as the USA – exiled Israeli journalist Barry Chamish (1952-2016), wrote a column on a discovery of the late USA conservative judicial figure Robert Bork (1927-2012). Bork apparently had found that much of modern modes of corruption and law-twisting in USA courts, were first tried out in Israel. If you check out the Yeshiva World News videos, with the hate-filled rioting of Israeli orthodox and ultra-orthodox Jews against their secular cousins, then look at the multiplicity of Israeli political parties, you can see why they need to brutalise the Palestinians, subvert and sabotage and, occasionally, attack their neighbours and work so assiduously to control Western states. If bereft of goy enemies, they would turn on one another.
Not surprisingly this is rather like an article from Die Sturmer abusing Jews. The convergence between Nazism and Zionism, and Zionazi Jews and their Sabbat Goy stooges, and the German Nazis, grows stronger by the day, although this is an extreme example.

Mr Shamir, could you at some point explain the apparent collapse of the Blue and White under Gantz, to those of us not intricately familiar with the Israeli system?
Gantz seemed honest and sharp to me, and he has an immediately recognizable military bearing that you dont need to even know his biography to identify.. sort of recalls an Eisenhower type.
Was his polling collapse due to popular opinion that Netanyahu tricked him, or that he bypassed the wishes of the rest of the party to assume the power sharing arrangement in the first place?
I was genuinely impressed by his blunt but just sounding rhetoric when he said that his nation will fight for itself and not ask anyone else to do so. How is that not considered a serious leadership candidate?
That’s really an excellent analogy that I hadn’t considered. Israel’s entire coast has been polluted by a massive oil spill from an Iranian oil tanker, producing huge popular anger. But it eventually turned out that the spill had been caused by a secret attack by Israeli frogmen on that tanker, which blew a hole in its side.
In exactly the same way, America has suffered devastating human and economic losses due to the Covid-19 outbreak that originally occurred in Wuhan, but there seems strong perhaps overwhelming evidence that the outbreak was due to an American biowarfare attack against China:

Skeptics argue that even rogue elements of our national security apparatus would never have been so stupid as not to consider the possible consequences of unleashing a dangerous virus. But the Israeli government apparently never considered the possible consequences of blowing a hole in a giant Iranian oil tanker off Israel’s own coast.
And as an angry “mutilated for life” gentile, who will never experience sex as nature intended, once you realize the evil that was done to you, for no medically necessary reason, you will never get over it. It may help explain why so many circumcised men, living in denial, refuse to think about it, so unthinkingly pass on the barbaric tradition to their baby boys.

The neuroses and psychoses so plangently described by Mr. Shamir as the current psychological state of the vast majority of “the Chosen” residing in their “promised land” may, more than any other single determinant factor, be attributed to the “unkindest cut”.

I think the oil Iranian oil tanker was on route to Syria north of Israel some hundreds of miles. If the tanker was mined by frogmen did they do that as it passed off Israel, or at the Suez canal, or was that ship sailed around Africa?
The plan might have been that it would be detonated on entry its destination there, at port in Syria.

Interesting what you mention in item #1 because when half of America was shell-shocked and having a meltdown after Trump won the 2016 election, I read a couple of commenters on another website talking about how there is a grand power battle going in Jewish power circles.
It was described as one side being the old guard: Rothschild/Soros/Clinton/Pelosi (some say the last two are crypto. Even if they aren’t, they’re ardent water carriers) VERSUS a newer guard of: Netanyahu/Trump/Adelson, etc.
Regarding #3, I remain mystified at the ignorance of so many about that issue. They can still have their opinion that it shouldn’t be done but, they ought not be so clueless about why much of the West adopted that practice. Let me be clear: It’s for HYGENIC reasons! Not only for him but also for her. There is plenty of bacteria build-up in the uncircumcised and it creates infections and sometimes causes disease including cancers. Just look it up on the CDC website there is historical documentation about that.
FollyofWar seems rattled by it (and is incorrect about the “no medical reason for it”) but, let me give him something to be thankful for. If he likes sex he should be glad he’s not uncircumcised. For the simple reason that Western women are not at all used to that and it’s a turn-off (so he’d get less action if he wasn’t). The ick factor is partly for what I mention above and partly just the strangeness. Your parents saved you from those problems!
I’m sure the US government is stupid enough to release “a dangerous virus,” but why hasn’t East Asia suffered from COVID-19 like the rest of the world? Is it possible that the ‘virus’ in Iran was/is say an electro-magnetic attack of some kind that is blamed on the ‘virus’. A 76 year old neighbor of mine has been acting strangely since he got vaccinated. He is much quieter and reserved, he seems to be luking about his house, and he said some really bizarre things about a mutual neighbor. There have been reports dribbling in of erratic behavior and mental issues for people who have gotten vaccinated.

Your imagination has let you down and so you have got your probabilities wrong. I concede that your hypothetical rogue elements, whose identity you give no clues about, might well have been stupid or careless about the spreadabilty they assumed (though that suggests that they wouldn’t have expected to do much harm to China) but that doesn’t get close to positive evidence.
The key probability is that US intelligence would have had contacts in the Wuhan Institute. I understand that part of the Institute was only a few hundred metres from the wet market. That adds to the possible details of a story relayed from an Institute contact. He/she might just report concern about a staff member who could have picked up a new coronavirus at the wet market (“we don’t think it’s anything escaped from our labs”) and, if so, there was reason for great concern, not least because several of her family had shown symptoms of a respiratory disease and one was very ill. As to the Chinese government not knowing about it. Sure. Just think what happened to the doctor who raised his concerns with fellow doctors.
You might wish to follow up your despairing of truth or even honest assessment of the probable and possible in US MSM by seeing how the BBC describes China’s behaviour wrt the new coronavirus from 1st December 2019 onwards. It had not occurred to me that China was in breach of the law in its failures of disclosure. That is alleged with an appearance of certainty. Presumably it is a modern treaty obligation rather than anything that can, with some faint plausibility, be said to be a legacy of (non Chinese) imperial imposition as in the case of its claims on the South China Sea.

No doubt you will remain unhappy that your theory is ignored and that, indeed, no mention is made of the ABC Radio and Israel TV reports which appear to date the outbreak of Covid 19 to November or earlier.

Your problem is that your entire knowledge of the world appears to be based upon the the various television programs that you apparently spend your time endlessly watching. Unfortunately, television is almost pure propaganda, primarily aimed at the ignorant, the dim-witted, or the lazy. You can decide for yourself which of those categories apply to you.
I have already published numerous articles discussing these issues in tremendous detail, drawing upon the exhaustive analysis provided by the investigative teams of the WSJ, NYT, and AP, as well as outside academic researchers. There is zero evidence of Peter Daszak being Jewish. There is no Jew I ever heard of whose last name is Daszak. Peter Daszak certainly does not identify as Jewish and has apparently no personal connections to Judaism or any Jewish organizations. He is the son of Bohdan Daszak, who was born in Ukraine, and a British mother (maiden name Walton).

Sorry, no time right now to go over that with due care. If the answer were “yes” what would you say?
Ron writes a lot of interesting and intelligent stuff but often nicely covered with formulas such as “I really know nothing about X” so I am going to approach this issue from a different angle. Then, despite his real merits and achievements, unwilling to back down or admit error in the face of the myriad inferior intellects infesting UR threads, and fortified by the general approval of a modest selection of the almost great and good he has persisted with his conspiracy theory that he supports with ever more aggression while wriggling to find excuses for the embarrassing fact that, as with most UR conspiracy theatres, the world remains mostly uninterested and almost totally unpersuaded.
Even capitals are resorted to. There is ZERO evidence of the Chinese (central government?) knowing about the outbreak in November. Sure, but Ron would surely not claim expertise which explains when and how local officials disclose uncomfortable facts to the centre. So nothing there when only one possible explanation is imagined for the course of information and events which led to the denied, but probably actual, medical intelligence unit report. I can understand why Ron makes such brilliant efforts to leave behind the years of (self accused) credulous naiveté, though there are anomalies such as his having seen through the neocons early and his persisting with religious daily reading of the propaganda sheet New York Times while sneering of a major BBC coverage of the Covid 19 story that I mentioned precisely because he professes not to watch TV on the ground that it is “propaganda”.
I have been trying to help with the reasoning that has, on the Covid origin issue, led nowhere beyond “All of step but my Jim” and the postulation of a group of rogues able and willing to use US bioweapons against China, which is not impossible, but surely pales in probability against the near certainty that US medical intelligence would have Wuhan Institute connections who would be quick to pick up on serious corona virus type symptoms from whatever source. (My earlier hypothesis that the information could have come from US military personnel who had attended the wetmarket and recorded odd symptoms later cannot be dismissed but I regard as less certain).
I have also expressed surprise that China would not have made something of Ron’s theory. Even here the desperate counter argument that the US so dominates world media that China would want to hold its fire so as not to have its credibility prpagandistically shredded is just a brilliant debater’s improvisation and doesn’t stand up to examination. China could have any number of proxies to use for trying out which anti US conspiracy theory might run. But not even the Iranians have run with it Russia could do it directly or through any number of proxies. Nah, fergetit.
Do I appear to have been unkind about Ron’s reasoning? Let it be clear that I take seriously the fierce working of his sharp intellect on many issues since the scales fell from his eyes about the media and conventional history. How could it be otherwise for one who wrote in a letter from the early 70s just rediscovered that my problem with Time magazine was that on any subject of which I had independent knowledge Time was always in error. I find that some of Ron’s theories, understandably for a very busy man who can’t help but spread himself a bit thin, have problems with the facts (9/11 is one where even a tireless investigator like Ron seems to have been defeated by sheer weight of facts and factoids) or with probabilities as in the Covid origins case.

Thanks for your reply. Your considerations are reasonable, though I’m not invested in any particular theory. There is a lot we do not know. Indeed, the appearance of the new variants is almost as mysterious as the appearance of the virus itself. And this is not conspiracy theorizing: scientists confess all they have are hypotheses. Nature magazine has just run a story saying scientists are “puzzled” by the new surge in India.

I’d say, since China has reportedly traced the first known case to November 17, 2019, that hypothesizing a release in late October is not too off. But, as I said, there is a lot we do not know, and also I am neither a virologist nor an epidemiologist.
