We may need to redefine “Western Civilization” beyond its historical roots. Whereas it once may have meant “Christendom’, Western Civilization predates Christianity and, in a post Christian world, we need a definition that more accurately reflects the philosophical and political influence of ancient Greece and Rome. The word “Slave” is derived from the Slavic peoples who were held in bondage by the Ottomans. The Muslim Turks were enslaving Europeans and Africans for a thousand years before the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade began.

That still remains very much to be seen. I’m not terribly encouraged by the current state of affairs. In any event, my point was that I am not terribly concerned about women in the military. Like so many of the pet causes of organized feminism, most women don’t really care about it.

It is undeniable that slavery was part and parcel of all societies, a form of involuntary bondage (prisoners of war) or voluntary (debtors who repaid their debts by working for their creditors). As I understand it, slavery became a “black” thing in America because (a) they could be easily purchased due to the transatlantic slave trade and (b) they did better in the heat of the South than the Irish “indentured servants” (I know that slavery existed in the North also).

I do know that it was not uncommon for slaves to be freed in America, as George Washington did with his slaves upon his death. Also see the post from Cowtown Rebel – blacks were also involved in American slavery as owners.

Dinesh D’Souza does say in his book “The End of Racism” that there WAS something unique about slavery in America. This is a too brief summary, but essentially I think he said that, while slavery had always been common and never before associated solely with any particular racial or ethnic group, in America “racism” towards an enslaved group (blacks) arose due to the cognitive dissonance of having the practice in a country where the founding document claims that “all men are created equal.”

Around the World, from antiquity until the last century, Women played a crucial role in Society. While Men were the Conquerors and the Settlers of Lands, the Architects and the Builders of Civilizations, and the Framers of Governments, the Women were the Refiners, the Nurturers and the Supporters.

Women, through their naturally genial and timid dispositions, were the likely impetus for table manners, common courtesies, and social discretion. Women are very susceptible to the influence of popular fashions and trendy fads and are particularly vulnerable to emotional manipulation. They really haven’t changed in that regard. They are still the nurturers and sustainers of society, the difference is their refining influence has been subverted to nurturing and sustaining degeneracy. Modern Society has warped Women to the point of serious mental illness and this is reflected in the number of Women with Bi-Polar disorder, severe anxiety and suffering nervous breakdowns. They are the overwhelming majority of the consumers of prescription drugs for depression and social withdrawal. Whereas, Men are more prone to Alcoholism and Marijuana addiction, Women are more likely to become strung out on hard drugs like barbiturates, amphetamines and opioids. A little discussed secret is that Women abuse Children more frequently than Men. Women are better when faced with decisions that have a definite outcome, like doing laundry, washing dishes or preparing meals. When confronted with difficult choices, their emotions tend to cloud their thinking. It is hard for them to give the go ahead to drop bombs on an enemy or to turn people away at the border, especially when they begin to consider the collateral damage or some adorable waif looks up at them with sad little eyes. This is solid evidence of why they should have never been permitted to vote.

And, as one commenter noted, Women can be extremely violent and lash out for seemingly no reason. On the few occasions that I’ve watched “Cheaters,” I almost always see some Woman repeatedly shove, slap, punch and kick some Man without anyone attempting to stop her. The article writes that commerce did indeed take place across this line of fortification.
Since this fortification was built and manned by the Romans, it seems obvious that it was meant to keep the German tribes from roaming and plundering uncontrolled throughout the northern Roman Empire.
I seem to recall from a history class long ago that anyone could live on the Roman side of this fortification, but was subject to Roman law, taxes, and protection.

Yeah, I read once about some stories about cons in jail being approached to “remember” that they were molested by some priest as a kid.
