There may have been a modest decline in case fatality rate as in some other countries, but not close to the dramatic decline implied by your comment. Locking down has nowhere killed off the virus, it may or may not have slowed its spread. For driving up unemployment figures and driving many to despair and sometimes death, it has no parallel. Without going into outright Covid denial, something other than combating Covid has been a key motivator for governments – in fact it is so obvious that even stating this seems banal.

What the virus has done is to expose a couple of flaws in our system — and unfortunately the first feeds the second.

The first flaw is that the media feels compelled to sensationalize everything. It’s the nature of the beast: if there are two papers and one says, ‘the sky is falling’ while the other says ‘not much happening today,’ which one will you pick up?

So given a novel virus with somewhat ominous origins, it was inevitable the media would incite a communal freakout.

Now comes the government. If something goes wrong, their job is to fix it. Even if they don’t know what to do, even if they suspect there’s nothing they can do, they have to pretend. Jump up and down and wave their arms in the air. Run in circles and scream and shout. Do something.

If they don’t, they’ll be out on their ear. Here in Oregon — where the death toll has been less than that exacted by the flu in a normal year — the governess has imposed all the usual bumph. If she didn’t, any deaths would be laid at her doorstep. Since of course in a population of several million, someone is going to both test positive for the Corona Virus and die, from the governess’ point of view, this is a no-brainer. Do lots ‘n lots of stuff.

Some of it has happened before, although in a more localised fashion. The difference now is partly media and its much greater reach than in the past, and of course the Internet.
“Spanish flu” was raging towards the end of WW1 but the warring powers did not like to mention the fact because morale was bad enough at a time when their armed forces were shelling, shooting and gassing each other, and civilians were suffering too, so they tended to censor mention of it. Only when the war ended did it get media coverage, and then there was a lot of mask wearing, local lockdowns etc.
Some other features of now have existed in wartime or after military coups. Curfews, incessant police checks, bans on people gathering in any numbers. The Greek spring lockdown this year reminded some elderly Greeks of the situation after the military takeover in 1967. Troops and police everywhere, not so many civilians, and if a few gathered at a street corner cops or soldiers would want to know why. Some call today’s lockdowns “medical martial law”, and it is not a bad description.
What we have not had before is this affecting billions, and for the most part without an overt and obvious war going on.

This is my feeling about them – they turn cities into temporary dead zones with only cops etc. moving around but the virus, if present, just continues festering at home among the mass incarcerated. The virus is a lot less affected by them than human society.

Now is the time that the parasites at the top of the financial institutions are making their move for complete control.

To do that, they need to destroy solidarity among the masses, and social distancing and the mandatory wearing of face diapers both separates people and makes them scared to even talk with each other. This is ideal for preventing revolt by the part of the people being dispossessed and caged.

Maybe we can stop looking at Sweden that is clearly doing well at the moment and start to look at the Jewish ghetto as these segregated religious communities have a very interesting Covid story to tell.

Wall St. probably also has an interesting Covid-19 story to tell.

Their Pump & Dump cycle is about to enter the Dump phase – and the supposedly Chinese Covid-19 takes the blame while they stand back and pick up the pieces (at knock down prices).

It would be interesting to know what the effect of Covid has been on them as the population density is rather high there.
