Add in their respective abilities to defend their nations and their interests militarily, and it becomes clear that their respective Deep States’ interests cannot be denied out of hand. A naked lunge for global hegemony by a CIA/MIC-based Deep State will necessarily either fall short of the mark, or at best result in the most devastatingly Pyrrhic of victories.

A decade or two ago, they all but had their goals in hand. Alas, as they went about “creating their own realities’, that train left the station. Their increasingly confused floundering about on the now empty platform is what we’ve been witnessing ever since. Unless they get their act together fast, they may even lose significant parts of their own heartland (USA & EU). Should that be allowed to happen, unable to bring the West’s resources under consolidated control, they’ll simply fizzle out. Or…

The question is unanswerable. We (or at least I) simply don’t know whether their “long range goals” have an All or Nothing clause attached, and to what extent the various parties to the agenda have committed themselves to it if there is such a clause. Doubtless, not all of them have but which will prevail is above my pay grade.

The great question facing the Russian and Chinese Deep States is whether the CIA’s designs can be maneuvered into failing peacefully, if not gracefully. This decade will see that Either/Or play itself out. My read of the situation is it won’t take the whole decade.

I’ve been doing some research into the Sheikh Jarrah issue. Found a nice paper authored by Avocats Sans Frontières (Lawyers Without Borders), essentially affirming what most legal experts already knew: Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem is illegal and, as the occupying power, it has no authority to affect transfer of its own population to it, making its determination of land ownership therein null and void. Pretty boilerplate.

I read once more about the double-standard practiced by Israel’s courts, one that allows Jews to claim property they had owned prior to 1948 while denying Palestinians the same. There’s a story from 2009 about a Palestinian family who was able to procure vital documents from the Turkish government which proved that the title deeds upon which Jewish organizations have relied to prove ownership of the Shaikh Jarrah properties are — brace yourselves now! — fraudulent. (The court, of course, didn’t admit those documents, though ASF noted their glib dismissal.)

Jonathan Cook’s coverage of the same story included one particular detail that elicited a chuckle, however dark the humor:

There are a couple of ways of looking at such a programme.

One is to see it as an end in itself — as an actual goal, to be realized and then satisfaction will ensue.

DCIP has not yet confirmed the cause of these deaths. At the time of the incident, Israeli drones and warplanes were reportedly overhead and Palestinian armed groups were firing homemade rockets towards Israel. DCIP continues to investigate these incidents to determine and identify the responsible parties.

The deaths of the al-Masri family was already confirmed by Israel on Tuesday as being from Hamas rockets. There was clearly no military target and Israel doesn’t randomly target a family – Israel diverts rockets when it sees children in the area, and they were outside.

Watching “Muslim leaders” kill Muslim children is a tragedy, but there is little anyone on the outside can do. When will parents get rid of the so-called “Muslim leaders” who are killing their children?

How can anyone believe that the UN is required? It was *created by* nations. It cannot *create* nations.

Country formation happened long before the UN existed. And, it will still continue long after the UN has been abolished. Any UN involvement is equivalent to the janitorial crew arriving after the real work is done.

Palestinian Jews have a sovereign claim on Jewish Palestinian land stretching back thousands of years. Palestinian Christians have an overlapping claim on part of this land (Golgatha, Gethsemane, etc.), which is an issue for the two indigenous Palestinian faiths to work out with each other.

Not only is the UN unnecessary, it is actually a destructive force. The General Assembly and various agencies are populated by Elite bureaucrats. A class guaranteed to exacerbate any situation when they get involved. Setting aside the UNSC:

— When has the UN actually made things better? Its hard to think of any example.

— When has the UN made them worse? Its agencies empower Non Governmental Organizations [NGO] to traipse about, instigating political upheaval.

The best option would be to dissolve the United Nations ASAP, before it creates WW III. Perhaps the UNSC can be salvaged & reformed, but that may be naive optimism on my part.

Statement: AP ‘horrified’ by Israeli attack on its office

NEW YORK (AP) — An Israeli airstrike destroyed a high-rise building in Gaza City that housed offices of The Associated Press and other media outlets on Saturday. All AP employees and freelancers evacuated the building safely.

AP President and CEO Gary Pruitt has released the following statement:

We are shocked and horrified that the Israeli military would target and destroy the building housing AP’s bureau and other news organizations in Gaza. They have long known the location of our bureau and knew journalists were there. We received a warning that the building would be hit.

The Israeli government says the building contained Hamas military intelligence assets. We have called on the Israeli government to put forward the evidence. AP’s bureau has been in this building for 15 years. We have had no indication Hamas was in the building or active in the building. This is something we actively check to the best of our ability. We would never knowingly put our journalists at risk.

We are seeking information from the Israeli government and are engaged with the U.S. State Department to try to learn more.

This is an incredibly disturbing development. We narrowly avoided a terrible loss of life. A dozen AP journalists and freelancers were inside the building and thankfully we were able to evacuate them in time.

The world will know less about what is happening in Gaza because of what happened today.

Hamas Makes Fatal Mistake, Falls for Oldest Trick in the Book After Israel Fakes a Ground Invasion

It appears that an elegant act of deception by the Israeli Defense Forces may have led to the slaughter of hundreds of Hamas terrorists, all without a single civilian caught in the crossfire.

On Friday, IDF issued a tweet through their English language social media channels that “air and ground troops are currently attacking in the Gaza Strip.” Predictably, establishment media outlets gobbled up the news as the latest evidence of an Israeli invasion of Palestine.

In response to the supposed invasion, hundreds of Hamas fighters who had previously been hiding among the civilian Palestinian population fled into the terror group’s extensive tunnel network to prepare for a bloody final battle with Israeli forces, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The invasion never came, however.

Instead, as the confused Hamas fighters came out of the tunnels, 160 Israeli aircraft flew overhead and rained fire and fury upon the terrorists.

The Jerusalem Post reported the attack struck 150 targets including anti-tank and mortar teams. The IDF verified the claim on Twitter with impressive footage of the assault.

Hamas suffered a crushing defeat once they no longer were able to hide behind human shields.

No one will believe attempts to spin an obvious IDF victory into anything else.

What’s interesting about the success of the ruse, was that the IDF did the exact same thing in 2008, just in reverse. IDF commanders said they weren’t allowed to attack, so the Palestinian police went ahead with their graduation parade, and 200 Palestinian fighters were killed in a surprise attack. This attack seems to have buried dozens of Hamas fighters in their tunnels, and more importantly, it destroyed those tunnels as useful hideouts. So far, about half of Hamas regular forces are out of operation.

Hamas has very poor intelligence on Israel and relies heavily on media reports, as it has no choice. Now you can’t do this kind of ruse too often. You have to skip a war or two.

Although it would be amusing if Hamas fell for it again in the very next round 🙂

In the case now before Israel’s Supreme Court, the owner is an Israeli corporation with Jewish owners whose chain of title is documented back to an original purchase in 1875. Until 1948, the neighborhood now known as Sheikh Jarrah was home to both Jewish and Arab communities. Jordan invaded Israel in 1948 and occupied half of Jerusalem, expelling every one of its Jewish inhabitants and seizing their property.

The plaintiff and its predecessors in title have spent four decades in court seeking to recover possession of the properties. In every case, courts have ruled in favor of the owners. In the latest lawsuits, the courts ruled that four of the eight defendants were squatters with no legal rights in the land, and the remaining four were descendants of tenants who had never paid rent.
Nevertheless, Israeli courts have treated the Palestinian squatters and leaseholders alike as “protected tenants,” and would shield them from eviction indefinitely if they paid rent. They have refused to do so.
The laws involved are the same as any landlord would invoke. There is only one objection in this case: the owners are Jews. Western progressives have elevated the desire of some Arabs not to have Jewish neighbors into a human right and a legal entitlement that even the Jewish state must protect.

The real story behind Sheikh Jarrah is a microcosm of the conflict: Israel is condemned for policies that are entirely unremarkable, while discrimination against Jews is proclaimed to be a rule of international law.

When Israel reunited Jerusalem and ended the Jordanian occupation in 1967, it had to decide what to do with these properties. In the many cases in which Jordan had officially transferred the title of Jewish-owned properties to Palestinians, Israel respected the new titles—and still does—even though they are based on forcible takings in a war of aggression followed by ethnic cleansing against Jews. Where title had never been transferred, however, Israel returned properties to their owners. Critics of Israel claim that Arabs can’t recover property under the same law, but the law is entirely neutral—it is simply the case that Jordan took property from Jews, not Palestinians.

Title to the properties in dispute in Sheikh Jarrah was never given by Jordan to Palestinians, so Israeli law respects the unbroken title of the plaintiffs. This case has nothing to do with ethnicity or religion. The only discrimination in the legal treatment of Sheikh Jarrah property is historic, by Jordan, and against Jews to the benefit of Palestinians.

That compares to 183,000 positive samples the previous year, which was not an exceptionally contagious flu season. There are several reasons being given for this anomaly, including the fact that people are avoiding large densely packed groups, bars, dances and mass transit. But, for the first time, Americans are doing what Asians have routinely done for decades, masking themselves in public settings and on transit during flu season.

So why on earth would the CDC suddenly do a 180-degree policy turn and say vaccinated persons no longer need to wear a mask outside or even indoors? Wearing a mask is no harder than wearing glasses. It’s know-nothings who say wearing a mask “takes away my freedom” who are objecting. These are the same people who don’t give a rat’s ass about other people.

People who haven’t gotten their shot(s) at this point aren’t going to get one. They’re anti-vaxxers. They either are anti-scientific, conspiracy-enamored whack-jobs, or they are anti-social jerks who figure “Let the rest of the people get vaccinated and then I won’t have to.” Either way, no incentive is going to get such people to go take the shot.

Florida’s Governor Ron (Who Needs Masks?) DeSantis’ new state order bans any kind of vaccine passports. DeSantis signed it to much fanfare in early May. According to the Miami Herald, DeSantis’ rule invalidates “all remaining local emergency COVID orders.” DeSantis signed a bill “that bars businesses, schools and government entities across Florida from asking anyone to provide proof of a Covid-19 vaccination.”

Are these the same people that support Trump, yet hate Trump’s “fast-tracked” vaccine? Are these same people against smallpox and polio vaccines? Are they reversing long established requirements for children beginning school? Why the government would be remotely interested in controlling what remains of the mind of an anti-vaxxer is never explained.

The real problem with this article is that it describes the Golani Brigade as special forces. This is seriously incorrect. I have seen increasingly foreign media say this. Even Nasrallah described the Golani Brigade as elite troops after the 06 war.

The Golani Brigade is a perfectly ordinary infantry brigade, no different than any other Israeli infantry brigade. It has a reputation for attracting soldiers from the Mizrahi community, and has a reputation for being a bit “wilder” than some other infantry brigade.

A source from the Gaza Strip told TPS Wednesday night that Hamas is seeking a ceasefire with Israel as soon as possible, and this is the growing tendency in the ranks of the Hamas leadership in Gaza.

The IDF carried several successful strikes and eliminated several senior Hamas commanders, significantly crippling Hamas’ so-called General Staff.

“Hamas is surprised that Israel was not deterred by its threats to hit Ashkelon and continued to hit buildings [Hamas targets in Gaza], which in the eyes of Hamas, led to a snowball of damage,” the source said.

Hamas gambled on the current round of violence being intense but short and was surprised by the IDF’s decision to expand the scope of its attacks.

It should be noted that this report corresponds with the IDF Spokesman’s briefings and even with reports in the Arab media about Hamas’ desire for an immediate ceasefire.

The source added that Hamas is in contact with the Qatari leadership so that it can act on its behalf to achieve a ceasefire.

“Hamas now understands that Israel may paralyze its governmental capabilities and elements in its leadership are already expressing the shock that is expected of the residents of the Gaza Strip who will soon discover the extent of the destruction,” he said.

Hamas understands that in the coming years there is no one who will agree to finance the reconstruction of Gaza and there are even statements about the need to form a unity government with Mahmoud Abbas in order to enjoy foreign funding for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Did Hamas achieve the impossible?

It does appear that Hamas made Mahmoud Abbas relevant and powerful again. Someone has to step in after Hamas leadership credibility dropped to 0%.

I’m not sure how you could think that sentence was not important, but I will take your word for it.

I see the miscommunication. I was drilling down on the question/definition of anti-Semitism and I had put aside the question of whether action would be called for if we did decide that the Jews are up to no good. Of course, what action meets approval is exceedingly important, probably more important than the first step of deciding how one feels about the Jews. On that subject you mentioned restrictions and removal in one of your comments. Is that something that you consider to be appropriate?

Also, after reflection, I am not so sure that I should have put the question of action aside. I think that it is possible that we can “refuse to face the facts” when doing so would put us in an impossible political position. I’m thinking of people who reject IQ group differences for example.

One of the reasons I don’t like the term “anti-Semite” is the endless shifting definitions roughly between the poles of “said something some Jew does not like” and “all Jews should die.”

Several weeks ago, I saw a video interview of the Arizona GOP lady in charge of the 2020 recount. She is retired military, and a true-blue straight shooting old fashioned American.

The point that I would like to make is that she was not negative about the outcome of the recount. Reading her countenance and expressions one could conclude that Trump is winning the recount.
