If meritocracy is to float, then general education must be re-assessed for quality and truth in formal knowledge ledgers. I’ve lived in urban, suburban, and rural areas, and I don’t think there are any great differences in the people, at least among whites. The real difference appears to be that the urban elites are as debauched and corrupt as any group anyehere, but have hoarded money upwards to the point that many of them can be as useless and worthless as anyone and still have a nice life, which is definitely the case among media, entertainment, and political elites.

One thing I would say about upper and lower class drug addiction is that at least a portion of lower class drug addiction is due to the pharmaceutical companies purposely directing addictive opoids at the lower classes through doctors. I have done a lot of studying about Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company’s history. You seem to be in error in a few “facts” that you state.

First of all, Henry Ford realized that with the implementation of the assembly line and the simplified tasks, he had created numerous boring, menial, dead-end jobs. In spite of the implementation of his $5 a day wage plan, his factory had extremely high turn-over. He had to continually hire and train new employees, to replace the ones who were quitting almost as fast as he could hire them.

The second error of yours was in stating that Henry Ford ran his manufacturing operations with “benevolence.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Henry Ford brought in an “enforcer” – a man who was, before his employment with Ford, a street thug. The man’s name was Harry Bennett and just the sight of him brought terror to Ford’s employees.

You fail to mention that Henry Ford was the last of the major automobile manufacturers to recognize the United Auto Workers union. It was at the absolute insistence of his wife, Clara, that he finally did recognize the union.

You also do not mention how Henry Ford treated his son, Edsel, and how he would shame Edsel at every opportunity.

I suggest that you read a book called “Wheels for the World,” written by Douglas Brinkley. In his book, Mr. Brinkley goes into the complete history of Ford and his company, warts and all.

I am an admirer of Henry Ford, but from reading the aforementioned book, I found out that Henry Ford had MANY shortcomings.

Does he mean trailer parks and small towns with no real economy or does he mean people with nice houses and 100+ acres who live in splendid isolation or real farmers with 1000+ acres owned and/or rented who actually make a living by farming?

I live in the latter sphere and can tell you that to live in any of the small towns around me would not be much fun. Idle youth, unemployment (voluntary and involuntary), drugs and crime are on the rise. So “rural” can mean two very different things.

Added to which, there are no peasants. That would mean coaxing a crop from the ground and being able to pay bills. Gone, starting in the 1970’s. Anglin watches too many Green Acres re-runs.

The allure of living on country property has a romanticism for city folk that has no basis in overall reality. I recall a specific moment getting my car fixed in the big city when a mechanic came out of the bay and wanted to have a big conversation with me when he overheard that I raised cattle.

He went on about how important and powerful farmers were because we were feeding the world etc.. that even though he was complimenting me, I didn’t have the heart to tell him that unless you do industrial farming at a certain scale, you will not make any money and lose your shirt after essentially working for free.

The other delusion ‘citiots’ have is they think that if they had a small plot of land they could grow all their veggies and be self sufficient. Their experience with some houseplants and maybe a goldfish gives them the idea that with land, you just toss some seeds about and wait until fall when all that you have planted will jump out of the ground, into baskets and sacks and the hard part would be hauling them to your house.

They have no concept of clearing the land, tilling it (requiring equipment), buying seeds, properly planting them, having a source of water and weeding, weeding, weeding and more weeding until harvest time. The combination of limits on development and massive immigration is what has caused high real estate prices in California.

There is a YIMBY movement in California trying to “densify” existing neighborhoods through single-family home lot splitting, mixing multifamily housing with single family housing and raising height limits. The state government has mandated zoning to favor the YIMBYs, but so far with only limited effect because of a conflicting CEQA law that restricts what a landowner and developer can do.

In 1945 CA land was dirt cheap because there were only 10 million people there. A blue collar worker lacking a high school degree could buy a brand new 4- bedroom house a mile from the beach for 3 x his gross annual salary. Wife stayed home and raised 4 children. Low taxes.

Today, CA has 40 million people. A new 4-bdr house a mile from the beach costs 50 to 100 TIMES the annual gross salary of a blue collar worker lacking a high school degree.

Today, a young married couple, each with a college degree: both must work and can barely afford to rent a tiny, nasty apt 1-hr drive from work. No time or room for children. Super high taxes.

My personal voting would have zero effect on anything. I live in a hard-Red state. So I’m not one of the people whose vote will make any difference at all. (I also loath the idea of pulling the lever for a Zionist).

But I do advocate voting, if you live in a swing state. I know that’s a very unpopular position to hold here at TUR, but I was extremely relieved, (even thrilled) when Hillary was defeated, because I consider her perhaps the most evil person on the planet. (which is saying a lot!)
