I just ran across this video from Fox 26 Houston of the blacks claiming that Florida will be teaching the accurate fact that slavery was beneficial to the blacks, and these gorillas are going ape:

As you might have guessed, Florida is not actually teaching that slavery was beneficial to black people – even though they should be teaching that, because it’s true.
All they are doing is dialing back the lunacy of claiming that blacks are the biggest victims ever (aside from the Jews) and that they “built America out of cotton.”
Black leaders from around the nation are condemning Florida’s new education laws that further limit how Black history can be taught in schools.
The new guidelines require lessons on race be taught in an “objective” manner that does not seek to “indoctrinate or persuade students to a particular point of view.”
One updated standard requires teachers to instruct on “how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”
Obviously they developed skills. They were working.
After they were freed, they got jobs based on the skills they had developed under slavery.
Is the black claim that they are so retarded, that after hundreds of years of working, they literally learned nothing at all? If that is the argument, I guess I would be interested in hearing them out.
Some leaders, like David Johns, executive director of the National Black Justice Coalition, accused the state’s Board of Education of continuing an “assault by Florida fascists under the leadership of lies led by Gov. DeSantis.” He added that the board is “seeking to affirm white supremacy via instituting anti-Black, Black History standards.”
“This is nothing more than white nationalist, segregationist politicians rewriting history in Florida, pushing the country closer toward civil war, and teaching our kids fallacies such as enslavement providing kidnapped and exploited Africans with useful skills,” said Johns, who also served as executive director of former President Obama’s White House initiative on African American Education Excellence.
They were not “kidnapped.” They were bought from other blacks. Actually, they were bought by Jews.

Every single story you hear about “Florida does [X] outrageous right-wing policy” is really an advertisement for Ron DeSantis.
The left supports DeSantis because he is against Trump. I’m not saying that every single editor who puts together articles claiming that DeSantis is “pro-slavery” is in on it, but the machine is designed in such a way that if DeSantis can create outrage headlines, the left whines about them, and that then helps DeSantis with conservatives.
Conservatives see the left media whining and think “well, DeSantis must be good, or the media wouldn’t be whining like this.”
Really, creating this hype that results in the left media attacking him has been his primary strategy. Most conservatives believe that DeSantis was uniquely good on the lockdown issue, on the tranny issue, and so on, even though many other states did a much better job. The media didn’t make a big scene complaining about those states though, so conservatives don’t know about it.
All that said: DeSantis is pretty much dead in the water anyway. These indictments against Trump have supercharged his popularity, and DeSantis’ best move at this point would be to drop out and endorse Trump. He is doing horribly in the polls, and everyone hates him and thinks he’s fat and disgusting with a creepy-ass fake laugh.

You are judging the founders by todays’s standards; slavery existed all over the world; by the late 1700’s -1800’s, movements were afoot to end the practice, primarily in Britain, wherein some places, chattel slavery was unknown.
This quote, attributed to Thomas Jefferson, “ as it is, we have the wolf by the ear, and we can neither hold him, nor safely let him go. Justice is in one scale, and self-preservation in the other.”, speaks to the recognition of the problems of the existence of a people, unsuited to the culture/expectations/requirements of the group into which they were brought, and the question of what to do with them, or how will they prosper, when left to their own devices?
The Arabs faced no such problems with their chattel slaves from Africa, as the males were castrated, and “family groups” amongst the slaves were not permitted.

I was in charge of mentoring a young Nigerian-American woman at work from 2015-19, who comes from a very wealthy, polished family. She had a Masters Degree from a fancy school, the right connections and dressed really nice. When it came time to train her, she had trouble with some of the concepts, but also had trouble showing up on time.
I coached her through her troubles, and afterwards, found out she failed her certification test three times in a row, but was allowed to take it a fourth time. She passed with an unlicensed proctor, which isn’t supposed to happen.
She will likely get a top cert in our career field despite having failed three times, and despite not taking the steps needed to advance to that point. This girl would be waitressing or working as a maid if she was anyone else.

I was reading a biography of Confederate sniper Jack Hinson who was waging a mostly one man war against Union forces during the War Between the States and it was very enlightening.

Separately, this article, more than anything, makes the case that Jews are the smartest of all people. That is not the case it intended to make, but it makes that case.

No one wants to admit that there are benefits to conquest and capture, but in life, few things are black and white. Good often arises from bad, and bad often follows the good.
Did blacks benefit from slavery? Of course. Did black suffer from slavery? Yes, that too. On net, did blacks suffer or benefit from their enslavement? Now, that’s a trickier question to answer as history is still unfolding. But ca. 2023, one might tentatively answer, suffer. On net, slavery has been destructive to both blacks and whites, and the world too.
Materially, there’s no doubt that slaves and the children of slaves have prospered tremendously under the American economic and social system. Slaves in the 18th century lived better than their cousins in Africa. And if they weren’t enslaved in America, they would have been in Africa, or dead.
Slavery might be bad (universally) today, but 250 year ago, it was often a fact of life. For Kunta in Georgia picking away in his master’s cotton fields, his opportunity cost back on the African continent wasn’t 2 years at community college and a promising career in retail, but enslavement to a rival chieftain, petty warfare, or eking out a living in the jungles. Even most blacks today subsisting in relative squalor in America’s inner cities are probably better off (materially) than most sub-Saharan Africans.
While it was probably not always true, morally, blacks today seem to be a broken people. More than any other blacks from any other part of the world, African-Americans as a whole seem bitter, defeated, morally corrupted and debased, infantilized, and hollowed of personal and collective will. They are convinced that they are victims of history and tragedy, unable to pick themselves off the ground, and without public assistance and universal validation that they are smart, beautiful and good, incapable of personal/collective improvement.
On this measure, they are probably worse off than anyone on earth, and slavery serves as the pretext for permanent incompetence. The poor, naked African with the disk in his mouth is better off because he at least has his dignity and pride. He doesn’t need anyone’s validation.
Slavery is not the root cause of the black problem. If it were, we’d all have problems. Go back far enough and we are all descendants of slaves. The real problem for blacks are the stories they tell themselves and the conclusions they draw from it. And the conclusion they have apparently drawn from it is that they are an abused, damaged people. And so they are, and forever they will be as long as they believe it.
They will be, soon enough. Once all the statues of Confederates have been pulled down.

Many were trained as artisans and craftsmen, and were rented by their owners to men who owned production facilities where they could be put to work. The problem was that these jobs were now off limits to skilled white men, who expected to receive cash wages for their work. This glaringly contradicts the 1619 Project’s foolish theory that “all whites” benefited from slavery. In fact, white poverty was endemic in the antebellum south. In the countryside, 40% of the population did not own the land they farmed; in the cities, 80% of whites were unskilled laborers. They were not generally so motivated by a tender concern for the slaves themselves as some assert today. They argued that holding so much power over fellow humans brutalized the slavemasters at the same time that it impoverished the 75% of southerners who owned no slaves.

The following book passage infers that slavery had benefits:

The above passage, word for word, came from Booker T. Washington’s book “Up from Slavery” page 8. He is obviously an expert on slavery and its ramifications.

Actually the slaves that were brought to the “New World” were NOT the “best and brightest”, but were dregs from the various tribes that their leaders wanted to get (and be) rid of. Internecine warfare also played a factor in the slave trade.
What better way to obtain highly desirable “trinkets and baubles” while getting rid of those who were causing problems?

Blacks, when they come up with all of these horror stories about slavery, seem to forget that slave holders had to provide enough upkeep to keep them healthy enough to work.
Blacks make it sound like slave holders were daily beating and lynching hundreds of them daily, just like they believe police are killing hundreds of them daily.
Now, what good is an injured slave? The newscaster said the slaveholders cut off the penises of the slaves. How does a slaveholder grow their slaves without mate-able slaves? (I’ve read that Muslims castrated men to keep them from breeding….)
I’m not saying that brutality didn’t exist, but nobody in their right mind would seriously harm large numbers of their slaves. That would be like killing off the oxen that plowed fields for farmers.
One should not judge the behavior of those living hundreds of years ago by the standards of today.
The situation was much different, utilization of energy not being what it is today. Most people lived a hardscrabble existence, worrying about where and when the next meal for themselves and their families would come from.
Even with slavery, in many cases, the slave owner worked alongside his slaves as life was not easy for any of them. The slave owner had the additional burden of being required to take care of his slaves FOR LIFE. This was codified into law.
Yes, it was a symbiotic relationship in many cases, but many times, from a survival standpoint, at least here in the USA, slaves were “better off” than free (white) people. This fact does not justify chattel slavery, but is merely a recognition of the times that life was not easy for anyone–free white or black slave.
The image of the slave owner sitting on his veranda sipping mint juleps while watching his slaves till the fields is a myth.
In fact, since planting seasons and harvest seasons were extremely time sensitive, the slave owner was likely to be alongside his slaves to either plant or harvest the crops.
In between planting and harvest, there was not a lot of work for slaves to do. Many of them developed other skills such as carpentry and woodworking that could be used to provide an income, even enough for many of them to purchase their freedom.
It is interesting to note that the most prolific slave traders were those of a certain “tribe”, as they had the business acumen and the wealth to run that sordid trade. Not only did ((they)) finance the slave ships and provided insurance for their ships and human cargo, ((they)) owned and ran the slave auction houses. In fact, to this day, according to this “tribe”, slavery is still condoned. It’s all laid out in their Talmud.
As an aside, Cinque, as portrayed in the movie Amistad, in real life, after gaining his freedom became one of the most successful slave trader of the day. He made numerous trips back and forth to the African continent to secure “human capital”.

“Was life better under slavery or was life better after abolition?”
At least seven of ten claimed that they remember their days on the plantation fondly and that life was better under slavery than after.
