I saw Musk’s stumbling as a sign that he was working to contain his entirely appropriate emotional distress. Musk is not a habitually inarticulate man.

Regarding your description of Peterson’s conduct, I agree with it. I think, however, that a man whose affective response was, shall we say, healthy would have expressed sympathy first. Had he done so, I too would have said that there was “nothing wrong” with it.

In short, Peterson’s matter-of-fact statement to the audience whom he appeared to be addressing ought to have come at the end, not as an interruption. An AI device could hardly have been less attentive to what Musk’s words and posture expressed than Peterson was.
