China said on Monday that U.S. high-altitude balloons had flown over its airspace without permission more than 10 times since the beginning of 2022, widening a diplomatic row after the U.S. military shot down what it says was a Chinese spy balloon.
“Since last year, the U.S.’s high-altitude balloons have undergone more than 10 illegal flights into Chinese airspace without the approval of the relevant Chinese departments,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a regular briefing in Beijing in response to a question.

Wang did not specifically describe the balloons as military or for espionage purposes and did not provide further details.
Asked how China had responded to such incursions into its airspace, Wang said its responses had been “responsible and professional.”
The U.S. defense department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This is just self-evidently true.
Saying “oh well, they’re the bad guys so they’re evil so they just lie about everything” is childish and idiotic. The US says they lie all the time, but they can’t name a single specific lie that was ever exposed as a lie.

China would not have shot down the balloons because they would know they were weather balloons – or at the very least, they would know that a country with a bunch of satellites doesn’t need to send “spy balloons” like it’s the 1860s.
The US entering into Chinese airspace with fighter jets is much more egregious, and China doesn’t ever respond to that.
So the grounds on which these people have to whine are minimal.

People have ban making fun of ridiculous attempts at warmongering for so long that you’d think the warmongers would eventually be less successful. But in my lifetime it seems to have pretty much always worked — they incite the gullible, get their war, and fail to win it… and then turn around and do it all again.
The only way this will change is if the gullible are hurting bad enough to think about themselves rather than an ‘evil foreign enemy.’ The recession helped a little to turn people off about sending billions to Ukraine, but without a draft I don’t think people really care who we’re fighting… because it’s not them dying.

Depends on what is meant by “good.” Many come to the US for economic reasons. The US may not be so great economically now but it’s still much better than most Third Word countries. The ignorant don’t know that China also has thousands of immigrants, legal or otherwise. Many Westerners complain about the difficulty of getting a Chinese green card (heard it’s much easier now), and about 2 million Taiwanese are studying, working or retiring on the mainland. And thousands more Southeast Asians are having good jobs in China. Some locals theorize that as China’s population shrink it will have to admit more foreigners, especially for lower-paid tasks like housekeeping or lesser skilled factory jobs. I don’t think so, as the country is going all out to replace human workforce with machines.
Maybe it’s time for China to shoot down all these balloons and surveillance drones to prove the hypocrisy of the US government.
Sometimes I think if Russia drops a nuclear bomb on DC and NYC, they’ll actually do America (and the whole world) a favor. And of course, one on Tel Aviv.
Let’s keep our eyes on some realities.
1) Russia is cleaning out modern day Khazaria (aka Ukraine) of all its trafficking enterprises, DUMBS bio-labs, adrenochrome factories and money laundering. I think they did shoot down drones if they thought important data was collected (like they did the U2 planes in the past). As for balloons they probably thought the US could’ve done a much better job spying with satellites. Chinese satellite pictures of US bases are often circulated in Asian social media and they do often provide very clear details. Such surveillance pictures are often as popular as Chinese TV shows which have wowed Southeast Asians from Laos and Thailand to Indonesia.
